Good morning,

Can anyone recommend a good brand for these tools? I bought some on eBay and was quite lucky not to break them as I reinstalled my Concert radio. Really poor quality.

Many thanks!

Morning,

I too have struggled over the years with inferior aftermarket head unit removal keys. Have since purchased a set of factory keys from Crewe Audi and never fail to easily remove a head unit.

Of note, the keys should be removed before you reinstall the head unit

Have a chat with Tom @CreweAudi as I’m sure he’ll be able to supply you a set. I recall them being around £10-£12 but cannot remember if that was for 4 or just 2, I purchased a set of 4 for double DIN head unit removal.

Kind regards,

Tom

I have a set of Ebay ones and they work ok. The most important thing is when removing them to push the locking pin in or you could break the tool or the pin.

As long as they're at least 1mm thick metal, any headunit removal keys for Audi/VAG should be OK. I've got a set which was about £6 from memory. There are loads of £2/£3 cheap keys on eBay but these are ridiculously thin and will shred your fingers if the headunit puts up the slightest resistance to being taken out - which it may well do if the ends of the keys are too weak to move the locking pin properly.

I bought AFA Tooling 4 pcs Radio Removal Key Kit X000M3UFXP 1C0-051-530 Cost about £6. Worked perfectly. Only need 2 of them.
