Audi driver international show 2016

Fantastic turn out yesterday and once again a great day.. Credit to Mike and Vonnie for organising this one.. So many faces new and old just shows our club is going from strength to strength.. Apologies for the late turn up wasn't feeling my best.. Tiredness getting the better of me... Massive shout out to Mr. B for a well deserved trophy.. Cant wait for the meal now.. Think we may be needing a bigger table Mike..

Great day, great people. Many thanks to all, especially Mike and Vonnie yet again. Congrats to Steve, despite his comment about my legs. No photos of his car though. Enough publicity already.

I totally agree, Mike and Vonnie really do a great job and I think we all realise that there is so much that they do each event that we don't get to see!!

Thanks for the congrats, That award was a shock, I had no idea that was going to happen and so thank you all.

Sorry about the legs comment (well not really) but it turned out that wearing shorts in October, especially on such an open place like Castle Coombe, was not so crazy after all, it was a lovely day and it was mostly jealousy because if I bared my legs it would look like a couple of goal posts.

As for the spot they gave us, it was disappointing in one way (the fact that on previous events it was just an over-spill car park) but I think that the square formation we did was MUCH better, it kept us all closer together and it resulted in more social mixing (in my view). I do realise though that we have to take up the formation we are given by the event, but hopefully we will get the chance to have a square formation again? It does present a tricky photo layout, but to me the social chats we were having seemed better (I may be wrong)

So on to the final event of the year, the Meal at Duo ! Less of a car event and more of a social but that works very well in my view and I seem to look forward to this one as much, if not more, than the others. So lets have a great turnout again, the club really is going from strength to strength !!

Just got home--we left the hotel in a cloud burst of biblical proportions, but still got home in just under 2 hours. A massive thank you to all that came and made it a great weekend- i say it a lot but we have a great club with such a diverse range of people that share a passion called A2.
Us early birds had a nice meal at the hotel on the friday night 15 of of us in total that then went on to enjoy a few drinks in the bar. Probably not the best idea as we had an early start the next morning so it was breakfast at 7AM Thanks for all managing to be ready so we made it on time out side for Chris to guide us to the meeting point rather than a magical mystery tour!
The sun joined us once at Castle Combe -- on arrival i was rather disappointed to be told we were in the field next to the paddock area. But once set up the cars filled our space nicely and looks great. Big thank you to all with the putting up of the flags and gazebo. We had the s2 club next to us and another club behind, so it wasn't the usual public parking luckily. A lot of visitors just don't come into that part of the venue though. BUT it didn't spoil the fun with plenty of chat and laughter. Lunchtime came so i cooked the bacon and hot dogs-hot work in the full sun inside the gazebo. Nice to see plenty of people enjoying them along with the cakes-amazingly i forgot to have any myself !

For those that attended last year - A2oc decided to award a few trophys with one being a special one "Dick chown award" this is named after a wonderful character and old standing member. So team A2oc decided to award it this year to someone that puts in a great deal of hard work on and off the forum. So who better to awRd the trophy but Dicks son Peter chown- congratulations Steve

The sunny weather lasted so it was good to pack everything away in the dry-again thanks for the help. We headed back to the hotel to get changed for the evening meal--food was good and most welcome. We were joined by some new cars and faces which is always nice to see-hope to see you again. We have one more social left this year in november.
Cheers mike and yvonne

Evening all,

Just to add to the very positive comments already posted; thank you all for a fabulous weekend and to Mike and Vonnie - legends of the A2OC social scene - for their organisation, company and for looking after us all with food and drink.

Di and I had a really great time. It is fair to say that the weekend was full of laughter, which is no surprise given the family that make up our community. It was great to see the regular faces, put a face to the familiar names and meet some new additions to the fold. Roll on November.

Thanks again.

Darren & Di

As I sat patiently waiting to turn into Castle Combe race circuit, I glanced at the clock - I'm now in my 30's (I wish the same could be said of me)...

Thanks for asking me to award the trophy in my dads name, he would of been chuffed to bits! I'm glad that the people I spoke to liked his A2, he bought it new from Audi and it will be staying in the family as long as I'm around.

It was great to see and talk with you again Peter and fantastic to see that you are still an attendee after my extended break from A2 ownership/ADI. As one of the longer serving members on the forum, I was fortunate enough to meet your dad; a lovely and sincere man who loved his A2 and the A2OC family. It is so heart-warming to see you cherish the car as much as he did. A fitting tribute and legacy to the man and his memory.

And hardly a more appropriate century post too; here is to the next 100 and beyond.

Cheers,

Darren

And I've just done my 100th post, its only taken me 11 years to not be a rookie lol. Ive never been a big poster on forums but always lurking there in the background ;0)

It was my first ADI in my A2 (i usually have my S2 or S6 on S2forum stand) I only managed to spend a small amount of time around the stand as i was giving parts away on Classic Audi stand.

I would say the A2OC stand had the most amount of cars on it (all A2's as apposed to mixed models, maybe there were as many RS3's??) It was nice to meet all the people i did and i hope to come to some social events.

Did someone delete my post? I can see a quote of it but it is not there????

No. Scratch that. Tapatalk doing funny things.

Another fantastic event with an equally amazing turn out. I have to say Lee and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and I always look forward to catching up with everyone and partaking in the convoy. Sorry we couldn't make the Saturday meal but you'll be pleased to know that I kicked Lee out of bed and made him bring a me coffee before he went out on his morning run :D :D :D

Big thank you to Vonnie for thinking especially of me and my annoying allergy by picking me up some delicious 'AJ-friendly' cake.

Absolutely agree with everyone who has posted before me. It was a lovely weekend and thanks so much to Mike and Vonnie for arranging everything. Thank you to everyone else too for making me feel so welcome again.

Having managed to accidentally blag myself in for free, I have just donated my £10 to the club x
