Audi servicing..

Audi are doing fixed price minor services, for £159, probably just an oil change and inspection, they video any faults they find and send them to you by email,

(any excuse to get your email out of you). I added on a courtesy car for £12.00, Chance to drive a car like you stole it, they`re almost as fast as rental cars.

I`m not saying its cheap, but fresh oil, stamp in book, and a burn a bout day in a car...

Have fun, John..

Sorry and a free courtesy wash and valet..... c`mon you know it makes sense.... John.

p,s, spent more on one motrbike tyre, last year,.. and then had to pay to have it fitted..

Just out of interest i phoned my local audi dealer and inquired as to how much it would cost for a cambelt and water pump change. They say they are doing a special offer at the moment across the Synter group dealers. The price quoted was £550 - wow:(

They`re not called "STEALERS" for nothing, my service last year was, cough, cough, splutter....it still pains me now.. £350.. all filters, plugs, oil, ..

Its just an easy option for me, but the £12 courtesy car seems to sweeten the poison.. John.

They had mine for a week to look at the OSS, gave me an S-line Q7 for free and didn't charge for anything even though 2 'master techs' looked at it and realigned it.
I try and deal with the same guy each time, have only good things to say regards Cheshire Oaks Audi. Admittedly I've never been in for "proper" work but they're all more than happy to help out on a 53 plate A2!
@Skipton01, you actually performed the first service on my car and it's something that I'll be doing this year myself, albeit not the oil, more hassle than it's worth I fear. Great fun watching and learning what goes where et al, good to see you back on the forum again! Cheers.
P.S, the Q7 for comparison:

Er, not really. When the fixed price servicing started it was £99 for the minor (oil & filter change/inspection) and the cost of materials to the dealership will be something in the region of £15-17 max. They don't drain your old oil out either - it's suctioned out through the dipstick guide tube and this method never removes all the sludge build up that you get in the sump.

I also remember when you used to get a courtesy car for free, but this has now become a chargeable item.

And the less said about the wash and valet, the better. I've actually seen the wash-boy dropping his sponge and then just picking it up and carrying on without a thorough rinse. If you want a scratched car, go ahead and let them do it.

There's much better alternatives out there in both terms of quality and service, so take a look here for more ideas, other than franchised dealerships:

Just as an aside, I had the first Longlife service on my TT at the back end of last year at a local independent VW specialist and they did the following:

oil/filter change
new sump plug (i.e. oil drained, not sucked)
new air filter
new fuel filter
new pollen filter

All done with a full inspection and report for £179 - now that's a bargain!

Cheers,

Michael

PS What bike tyres are you using that cost that much?? My two both take 190/55 sticky stuff and they come in around £130 each.

An S line Q7, .. wow, I was happy with a leathered up A4, for 5 days at no extra, because they lost my oil cap,.. I might have to pick up a brochure... for courtesy of course..!

Us Yorkshiremen like to look after the pennies Micheal. Wich dealership was this please ?.

It was Awesome GTi in Irlam. Best bit for me is that I can drop the car off with them, take the bicycle out of the boot and ride home in around 20 mins from my new place.

Cheers,

Michael

As for the motorbike tyre, I was rained in, up in Scotland, after the tough roads shredded my tyres, I only needed a back, so used a local car place down to the rain, started of as just an enquiry and to kill some time till the heavens breathed, they contacted BMW Motorrad in Edinburgh and bought the tyre through them which I later found out, it was only a Michelin Road Pilot 4,..not that theyre the cheapest..

It was one of those moments I knew I was being stung, but considering my circumstances, I was happy to let it happen, and moan afterwards just so I was able to start the jorney home.
After crusing around Scotland telling people how lucky I am to not see no rain for the past week, Payback time come,.. It didnt stop, just continuous for days. The jorney home was a mission; hail stones, very dark skies, and continual on and off down pours for 500 miles,.. tough but loved it

£80 on fuel, £100 on Costa Coffee... gonna try and do it again this year. An old guy told me the day you stop frightening yourself, is the day you start getting old..

Went to my local Audi dealers on Saturday morning as I thought I'd change the oil therefore needed an oil filter, and prefer to use manufacturers branded filters and they're not that much more expensive. Anyhow oil filter arriving on TUESDAY frustrating or what!

Just ordered a few bits myself today. Collecting from the dealer tomorrow. :)

Ive got to know "Dave" in the parts dept at Wakefield Audi fairly well. They dont keep any parts in stock but he normally manages to get them before dinnertime the next day which is ok by me. The service items are a very reasonable price but the labour costs of £150 per hour are staggering !.

Car went into Liverpool Audi for electrical diagnostics today, nothing found (expected, just going through the motions) so no charge. Booked in for 3 days in March to allow 'specifically trained' diagnostic electrical techs to take a look -- might not take them up on that, dread to think the labour charge and it's unlikely that they'll find anything; 2nd mysterious failure of the clocks.

However I was offered a courtesy car and the £12 charge is if you have to use their insurance! If you take your insurance docs they'll try and put it on that and then there's no charge -- might incur an admin fee I guess so swings and roundabouts.

Worst experience I've had with dealers is having to trot along and pay for parts before they'll even order them! Everything else has been hunky-dory but the labour charge isn't something I'd swallow for a service.

Must be a specific dealer requirement as my local dealer will allow you to order and pay on collection

@emmett & manhattan$, you're quite right. I'm thinking of "special order" parts i.e, only available from Audi Germany, it's understandable I guess; if you didn't collect and pay then the franchise would be out of pocket -- just happens that nearly everything I do want/need is a "special order."
I don't have a dealer nearby so it's mildly irritating having to do multiple trips. 1st World problems and all that :p .
