Audi specialists Portsmouth / Southampton area

Hi all.

I'm a new A2 owner (1.4TDi sport) and loving the car. Although I have encountered what seems to be a reasonably common problem from what I have gathered from this site; the ASB warning light accompanied by the ESP and the ((!)) brake fault light.

I phoned Audi Portsmouth and have an appointment booked. However after driving the car today I had no warning lights. I couldn't get rid of them yesterday. It came on whilst driving and stayed on. Then when I made another, longer, journey in the afternoon they were there when I started the engine until I turned off the engine two hours later.

Anyway, I was going to cancel my appointment that was scheduled for this week to keep an eye on it. I'm hoping it was a random one-off. If not I'll rebook at a later date when I am certain there is a problem. But I wanted to know if anyone could recommend any Audi specialists in the Portsmouth / Southampton area, preferably closer to Portsmouth. Audi Portsmouth quoted me £98 for the diagnostics and for an hours labour.

Thanks,
DarrenH.

Hi Darren,

Welcome to the A2OC.

If you don't find anyone close to you before the weekend, why not come along to ADI - (See Social part of the forum).
It's at Castle Combe in Wiltshire, and there will be a few of us who will be able to scan your car and offer some sound advice.

Cheers

Jeff

I have used a number of places in the Portsmouth area, there is one on the Fratton road (vw specialist, white sign opposite the bridge) they charge £55ph. (but there is always such a big delay to get you in there)!

JKM a little more expensive but recommended (jkm.org.uk).
There is also Fastrack near Fratton park, all taxi's use these and I have had a good experience, and cheap (fasttrackgarage.co.uk).
Boarhunt is also another I use in Fareham - they are more a breakdown service (boarhunt.co.uk).

I also use a garage in Whiteley called Tyreshops, they offer a 30min free diagnostics on problems (tyreshops.co.uk).

Avoid fratton bridge, whites motors & green road garage (same company) a member here had a number of Cambelt's snap after they had supposedly changed the kit. They denied a number of things when I had issues from stuff they had changed previously on my vehicle. I also saw how they drove my car over a massive deep hole because I hadn't got my wheel nut with me, no care what so ever (Whites garage).

Hello Jeff. Thank you for the welcome and the offer. I'm away this weekend visiting family, but the gesture is much appreciated :)

Thank you for those recommendations, Richard. I work in Whiteley so I might give them a try if necessary. Like I said, I am hoping it was a one-off and I'm going to keep an eye on it. But I will get it checked out if there is a problem.

Hi Darren
Did your problem resolve itself or did you have to get a diagnostic done?
If so who did you use and how did it go?
My EPC light has just come on and I may have to get a diagnostic soon.
I am in Chichester but work near Fareham

Hello darren, I`m a new A2 owner, had the same warnings as yourself, turned off, and all the warnings were gone, couple of days later had the same problem, so i checked the break fluid level, and found it to be too high. Its where the dealer i bought it from obviously fitted new break pads, and forgot about the fluid.
With a piece of hose I simply syphoned off the fluid to the required level, into a jar, and the car has been fine since.

So check fluid level first, good luck, John.

I am finding it hard to resist commenting on this.

I would find it hard to understand how an overfilled brake reservoir could trigger dash warnings. But good advice to everyone to check anyway. This sometimes happens when new pads are fitted. The thicker lining than the worn ones pushes more fluid back into the reservoir and do can over fill it, always worth checking after new pads.
