Audi Worthing / Brighton / Five Oaks

When I had the last, short lived, A2 I posted that the Audi dealer in Worthing had a fleet of A2s logo’ed up with the dealer name. I counted 4 when I went there one weekend. I think they’re used for the collection / delivery service.

Anyway, I saw one driving around today, so I thought I’d give them a call about servicing our A2. They have a fixed price service scheme for cars between 3 and 15 years old. £170 for an oil service, and £338 for a major service. But ours is eighteen years old... no matter, they were happy to extend the pricing to mine as well...

Now I’m aware it’s basically just an oil and filter change, plus air and fuel filter and new plugs. But I’ll get a lovely written report of everything else that’s wrong :p And, it can’t be that much more than my local garage will charge, plus they’ll clean it and stamp the service book. And as they have A2s of their own they must be familiar with these little cars still! All booked in for after Easter; I’ll report back...!

I look forward to reading your update......

Well, update time...!

I had expected that taking an 18 year old car to a main dealer would lead to a list of recommended work as long as your arm... however, all they could find to highlight was that the front pads and discs need replacing (80% worn) and the tyre inflation foam stuff isn’t Audi and should be replaced with a genuine Audi one :p

So all in all, not bad. The full service was £338. I got a coffee and a bacon sandwich. The car has been cleaned
I’m pretty happy right now :)

Those pads are not 80% worn in my opinion; guess you have a couple of years left in those. And the disc lip is no problem.

Yes, I’m sure there’s life left in them yet. And £309 for discs and pads seems on the high side  Not, mind you, as much as the cost of the Audi branded replacement tyre inflation stud. That’s £70!!

Seconded. More like 80% remaining on pads. I bought front Pagid discs with pads for something like £60 in the Autumn and two hours to fit. - Andy
