Auto headlight conversion with coming home/ leaving home lights

So I think I have figured out how to change the mode, there a 3 modes, 1 Second, 3 Second and 5 Second delay in turning the lights on. I haven't got the coming home lights working yet, is this something that needs configuring?

They should work straight away. But if you have been trying to change things perhaps you have switched that function off, or changed it to fogs instead of headlights? (Have you got front fogs on your car?)

The instructions are so vsgue that I haven't yet been able to figure them out myself yet and so I haven't been able to help much.

I ttied each setting various times and got to a stage (somehow) where it is working as I want it. But it did work straiggt out of the box without changing anything.

Not sure, mine were working fine if only a bit to short, 5 seconds I think. I would imagine they should stay on for at least 10, maybe it can be configured. I can't play with it now as its been out used for testing the base that I'm working on.
Would be good to hear other people's experiences.

The 1, 3 or 5seconds that RGH is talking about is not the coming home delay, it is the delay before the auto headlights switch on when going under a bridge or tunnel. The coming home lights stay on longer than 5 seconds.

I don't think I have changed anything as I did a default settings on the unit, managed to find these instructions on line.

Function settings
1. Set the wide light --- the light switch on the wide light file for more than 3 seconds, twist to the low light stalls stay less than 1 second, and then twist back to the wide light file, the lights flash twice that set the success , Do not flash that the current brightness is too bright, set the failure.
2. Set the low beam --- the light switch placed in the low light file for more than 3 seconds, twist to show wide lamp stalls stay less than 1 second, and then twist back to the low light file, the light flashes three times that set the success, Does not flash that the current brightness is too bright, set the failure.
3. Set the front fog light --- the light switch placed in the wide light file for more than 3 seconds, twisted to the ATUO stalls stay less than 1 second, and then twist back to the wide light file, the lights flash once said fog lights near Light automatically open, flash twice that the front fog light does not open with the low light
4. Set the lighting delay --- the light switch on the O file for 3 seconds or more, twist to the AUTO file to stay less than 1 second, and then twist back to the O file, the indicator light once to detect the light is less than the set value of 0.5 seconds (Normal mode), flashing three times to indicate that the light is less than the set value of 5 seconds after the light (delay mode), the light is turned on (the tunnel mode), flash twice to detect the light is less than the set value of 3 seconds after the light (normal mode)
Note: The tunnel mode is suitable for high-speed road running tunnel, and the tunnel will light up immediately. Ordinary mode to adapt to running fast city road, usually within 3 seconds through the bridge hole, to avoid the day off the bridge hole lights. The delay mode is adapted to run the slow urban road, usually within 5 seconds through the bridge hole, to avoid the daytime bridge hole lights.
5. Switch fog lamp --- switch in the AUTO file, when the wide light or low beam open case, the headlamp switch twisted to show wide stalls stay less than 1 second, and then twist back to AUTO file, you can manually open Front fog lights, and then repeat the operation once to close the front fog lights.
6. Switch fog lights --- switch in the AUTO file, when the wide light or low beam open case, the headlamp switch twisted to O lights stalls stay less than 1 second, and then twist back to AUTO file, you can manually open After the fog lights, and then repeat the operation once you can turn off the fog lights.

I think Wide lights are full beam.

Also don't think you can change what lights come on for see me home, looks like you can change the amount of time they operate for, however the instructions don't tell you much about what to expect once you go into the mode or how to set it.

The previous version had the option to use fogs or headlights for the coming home functions.

On the instruction sheet it has one setting that is for fogs, I thought that might be it? Just guessing.

Haha, I think that all you can do is guess, Steve B I saw you have fitted your into the dash using the standard headlight switch surround have you been able to get the switch out again?

"Wide lights" are the sidelights.(I believe)

The translations are not that great are they, LOL.

I will see what I can find out.

Okay I have cracked it.....

See me home lights - to lengthen the amount of time they are on for follow this pattern. The car has to be off make sure the switch is in the off position then go OFF to Auto to OFF to Auto to OFF you will now notice the fog light pulsing a green lamp count these it's the amount of seconds that the lights stay on for, once you have the required amount turn the switch to AUTO to confirm.

Changing Operation Mode:

To change the operation mode make sure the ignition is on and the switch is in the OFF position, quickly move the switch from OFF to AUTO to OFF. You will notice the fog lamp indicator will flash green.

  • 1 Flash - Mode 1 Tunnel Mode (Lights Come on in 1 Second)
  • 2 Flash - Mode 2 Normal Mode (Lights Come on in 3 seconds)
  • 3 Flash - Mode 3 Delay Mode (Lights Come on in 5 Seconds)

Hi,

I tried this and I noticed that you have to ignore what the sheet says about holding the switch in one position for three seconds etc.

As RGH has determined, that is not correct.

I tried adjusting the duration of the coming home lights following RGH's instructions and it works as long as you switch reasonably quickly between each movement and not doing as the sheet suggests. I was able to increase the duration to about 8 seconds (which is what I think is just about right for me)

As for changing the operation mode, again RGH's instructions worked perfectly. I set mine to 5 seconds, any shorter and the headlights come on as you go under a bridge, With it set to 5 seconds you have already gone through the bridge and so the lights don't come on then.

Sometimes when you have a short setting the car in front thinks you are flashing them.

Thanks RGH !!!!!!

No problem, deciphering instructions is what I do best comes with been a Process Control Engineer :D just mess with the switches and buttons until it does something haha! Hope it helps you guys out

Actually it's a push fit, the switch barrel must has set on the squint so it's a tight fit to get it into the hole if you'll pardon the expression :p

Just had one of the Neighbours over saying the cars lights were turning on and off some of the night.
Car was locked.

Anyone else?

As my light switch has worn, and now the LED-lighting in the switch itself has broken, I'm looking for a replacement. This looks like a perfect solution, but I don't want to have the auto function. Would an aftermarket A4 light switch such as shown here work? The pin layout seems similar.

You can get a new non auto headlight switch for around £12 from the same supplier of the auto headlamp switch.

Something like this looks like it may well be compatible.
