Average miles on a full tank

Driving with a spare tank of diesel as a precaution I had the guts to drive far enough (966 kms) to fill 40,19 liters of fuel in the 42 liter tank.By then, the needle had dropped below the scale.

I have a 1.4 petrol from 2000 (with small tank). I have seen the non-linear response of the gauge but I've gotten used to it.

I've got used to this also, although sometimes get excited by a good 'first half'. Last week I managed 310 miles at half full. (I was feeling optimistic and so I say half full, rather than half empty). I was secretly hoping for a 600-mile record.

However, the second half was used up with only 140 miles to the beep warning - making a total of 450 miles to beep, which is still good I think.

Mines only a 75 but i regularly acheive 520 miles (mixed journey) before the scary beep. Without bragging I have acheived well over 600 miles on long journeys. It's all in the foot, lol.
I'm always looking to improve though. I will investigate different tyres next time though. Am running pirrellis at the moment.
Any suggestions on low rolling resistance tyres that are not french?

If I understand correctly (and I may be wrong!), low rolling resistance tyres = harder compound = more road noise. No way would I go back to Pilot Primacy Michelins and get the tiring road noise again. But I'll be interested in other's recommendations for my next set of boots.

Another thing with those french boots is they are very slippy in the wet too. Been there before

My worst ever mpg was 56mpg and my best is 61.2mpg but i cant seem to get any better than that even with driving really really carefully and being gentle on the throttle.

Also, on my DIS I reset the average mpg counter when i filled up and then drive 500 miles till almost empty and it said 74mpg but when i did the maths after once i filled up it was only 60mpg. Has anyone experienced that the DIS far off the mark?

Best mpg from my 2003 Tdi 75 (remapped to 108bhp at the wheels) was 67.5 mpg over 165 miles on a return journey from N. Wales last weekend. Cruise control was set to 65 mph and most of those miles were motorway. Normal overall average is 54 to 58 mpg.

Ive done exactly 200 miles on a tank so far, and the DIS is sayin 130 miles left today, but I think that will be more like 90-100.

Which Im please with for a petrol

Given that, getting a diesel A2 was one of my very small number of better decisions!

A2 range

Hi
My 1.2 tdi will travel up to 1200 km (750miles) on the 34litre tank with a couple of litres left. 1 litre = 22 miles.

hmm. 6.7 average right now, meaning 420km until the beep - and there's ca. 7 litres left at that point (I fill €40 or so).

400km --> 240 miles, 28 litres or so.

Range on 32 litres

106 mpg is correct. This is the best consumption that I have achieved. Its takes into account a 2% over read by the odometer. I averaged over 100 mpg last summer. The DIS also under reads consumption by about 6%.
