This is something I think about too, I like light and not too wide wheels/tyres. I really like pepperpots for weight and find no need to exceed 195 tyre width.
Have you considered spacers? Which wheel and tyre options do you want? The 7J version appears to be 10Kg bare, 6J is (not yet found - 8Z0601025). For comparison, pepperpots are under 6Kg.

I am very hesitant to use spacers, for several reasons. I am big fan of the 16" SE six-spoke design and I just want the wheels to sit a bit further out, filling the arches. I would keep my current tyres (195-50-16) as they seem compatible according to @Skipton01 on this post.
I can allow 2 or 3 kg's extra but not if the weight difference is massive...

They'll fit - I'm running 205/55 at present all around, and that's on 17" wheels. Slight rub on the back when passengers are in and then only over bumps. And slight rub on full lock too.

I think they'll rub as that's a higher side wall and quite wide but someone more qualified should be along soon.

Seeing as this thread has been resurrected; I already ‘Liked’ this photo the first time, so can’t do it again. I think this is the best looking A2 I have seen @Muska
