B pillar wiring problem

My fuel flap switch and the alarm isolator switch dont work. I have removed the B pillar trim and cleaned the contacts on both switches to no avail.
It would seem likeley that there is a problem further up the wiring loom affecting both switches. The loom leads to the fuse box, but there doesnt appear to be a fuse or relay related to these two functions. I'm stuck!
Its an old 2001 A2, so I need to fix it myself. Any suggestions. Thanks

Hmmm, possibly not the reply you were hoping for, but I suspect your central convenience controller is playing up!

Before swapping it out, just check fuse 36 (10amp) for condition - that is the main power feed for the controller. If the fuse is fine, then it looks like the convenience system is either up the swanny, or well on its way (they are not uncommon faults unfortunately and cost about £200 to replace).

I've attached an extract from the workshop manual showing the circuit in question - as you can see, both the switches in the B pillar lead directly to the controller.

Sorry not to be the bearer of the best tidings on this occasion.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks, will try fuse 36, oh if it were that simple! Bet it won't be.
I have a lot of problems with the electrics, my lateral accelerator sensor went recently, found it and cleaned the contacts, now it only goes off sporadically.
The only reason I want the interior alarm isolator to work is because I have a new dog. Is there a way of covering or disabling the motion detectors in the car...duck tape costs so much less than the Convenience System Control unit!!
