Back in an A2 - some help from the A2 community please :-)

Just had someone to come over and look at the car. He wasn't very well versed in the A2, so it was a rather futile exercise! However, he did run diagnostics on his OBD reader and it showed no errors. Bear in mind, the car had only been running (stationary) for about 1 minute so not really up to temp.

I checked oil level and it seems fine.

At start-up, i get orange 'OK' signal in the DIS (nothing else). When I press the left button to go through the menu, I get the following:

I'm not very well versed in the quirks of the A2. My previous one, thankfully, never had an issue. Any advice appreciated ? ? ?

That is the standard cycle through the warning lights to show each. So it means nothing.

if you have a faulty oil pressure sender ther will probably be no errors saved because it is just an indication of low pressure. It can not assume that it is a faulty sensor rather than a genuine loss of pressure.
I did tell you that a non A2 skilled mechanic would not know these cars. But any mechanic with an oil pressure tester should be able to check the oil pressure.

He obviously didn’t have such a tester.

Yea I know it was a long shot but i thought better to try my luck with someone same-day whilst I could. I asked for someone to come around with a pressure tester. Lo and behold, he turned up without one

Are there any helpful videos/tips here to replace the oil pressure sender myself if it isn't too difficult?

Cheers - yes I saw this. Is it simply a matter of undoing and plugging in a new one? Forgive the naive question - newbie here :p

I,m not sure to be honest.....hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly ? .

Yup. Disconnect the plug. Have a good look at the switch and connector. Neither should be oily. If so then the switch is probably faulty or failing. I have swapped a couple of these in the past, and repaired the connecting wire on a couple.
Unscrew the switch, screw in the replacement, maybe with a smear of thread sealant, plug in the connector.
Disconnecting the plug is the worst part of the job!

Morning all - I read it's best to get OEM part for this. Any recommendation where I can find one in relatively short order?

If you ring Tom at Crewe Audi parts dept he may be able to get one to you by tomorrow in the post if they have them in stock.

Thanks @Special edition. They were super helpful but have to order from factory and can only get it to me end of the week. I need to take the car out on Thurs so really want to have a go at replacing it myself before then. I think I may order online for now. The part number for future reference if anyone needs is 036919081d. I'm going to try this one for now: https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/oenumber/036919081d.html?brand[]=101
If you want to drive the car on Thursday then you just need to do as I suggested and determine if the oil pressure and levels are ok.
You say that you have dipped the oil and it is ok. If you also get the pressure tested properly then you will be able to drive the car until the sensor arrives.

With oil warnings you need to be SURE that you have the correct level of oil and that the pressure is ok too. There are no shortcuts.
The risk is too great to just ASSUME that it is the sensor that is at fault. It SHOULD be the cause but you need to make SURE.

That is it from me, you are asking for advice and then not following that advice.
