Basic settings for VCDS

Hi,

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere on here but better twice than not at all?

If you are just getting into VCDS and want to make some useful / interesting changes to some A2 features, you can try the following;

It is for the CCCU (Central Convenience Control Unit) controller number 46

The Code field is fun to experiment with BUT !!!! Copy down the code that you currently have before making any changes (so that you can always go back)

The code consists of the sum of the individual codes for the various settings, so you need to decide what settings you want and add the corresponding numbers together.

The list of options is as follows
00001
Anti-theft system via remote control -YOU NEED THIS (It tells the system that you want to operate the Alarm via the keyfob)
00002
Confirmation ant-theft Warning system (blink) - this causes the indicators to flash when the alarm is ON (if a door/tailgate is open it doesn't flash the indicators) People think the flash is to indicate the car is locked buit it indicates that the alarm is on (and the car locked)
00004
Selective Central Locking (SCL) - Some people like this and others HATE it. With this set on the key only unlocks the driver's door (nice security measure to stop people jumping in but it can be a pain if you normally have passengers)
00008
Anti-theft warning system installed - YOU NEED THIS because it tells the system that you have an alarm system
00016
Rear lid release locking at 5 kph - with this ON "it does what it says on the tin" as you hit 5kph the tailgate will not release (Useful!)
00032
Central locking at 15 kph (10 mph) - A good security measure, as soon as you hit 10 mph the central locking operates (Useful)
00064
Comfort function via remote control - This is the facility to open and close the electric windows by holding down the unlock/lock buttons on your key fob. If you sometimes lay on your side (on the settee, for example) you might press the buttons by accident and open your windows!
00128
Right hand drive (RHD) - YOU NEED THIS (unless the car is LHD of course)
00512
Confirmation of locking via remote control (blink) - Confirms that the car is locked via the key fob
01024
Confirmation Anti-theft warning system (horn) - one of my favourites, with this set on you get a little beep telling you that the alarm is set
02048
Door/window regulator logic (North America) - this affects if you can operate the windows with the ignition off etc.
04096
Confirmation for unlocking via remote control (blink) - Confirms that the car is unlocked via the key fob
16384
Selective central locking (SLC) via key switch only - This is similar to code00004 above but instead of it affecting the key fob, it relates to the door switch only.

So decide what options you want and add the numbers together (including the ones highlighted)

Thanks Steve that is a neat chart where people can see exactly what they want (need) and the resulting code to insert back into the CCCU. Usual advisory if not sure what you are doing read 10 times, ask a friend and if you still want to try at your own risk, fine. Pretty sure some of our LHD owners or 1.2 tdi owners would appreciate the same for them. Not sure what can be done to the 1.2 tdi.

As long as the current code is noted before you try a different one then it should be fine. Inputting that will restore the settings if things go wrong, but this is a pretty safe thing to do in VCDS anyway (there are not many that you can say that about)
VCDS is a powerful tool and can cause problems if people use it without taking care, of course!!!

Cheers

Fascinating stuff and many thanks to Steve B for the research and to Herx for pointing me here in my intro thread.

Looking at the fact that the system creates a unique value from the binary sequence of codes, that would suggest that there are possibly functions at 00256 and 08192?

Cheers
Simon
