BBY engine - smoke from oil filling tube

Is there any other reason for this except worn piston rings? It does consume oil a bit, but there is no blue smoke or smell of burnt oil in the exhaust and it passed the emission test without issues. Would a bad oil separator cause this?

The oil breather pipes at the back of the engine may be blocked.
Thanks, I was planning to tackle them next because of the oil consumption without burnt oil, just wasn't sure this might be related or not.

I fitted one of these to a bby recently, fairly simple job.

Undertray off, axle stands fairly high, three bolts I think 5mm allen heads? And then two electrical connectors.

The unit has a pinch click pipe to it which you have to be careful with a gently start moving around etc before pulling at it.

Hey, check out FEBI BILSTEIN Oil Trap, crankcase breather in the AUTODOC app https://m.autodoc.co.uk/febi-bilstein/9804608

This is normal for most engines. When you remove the filler cap, you completely upset the engine breathing system, hence the fumes are forced out of the filler. Nothing to worry about I would say.

Problem is that what made me look is the smoke I noticed in front of the car when stopping at the traffic signal. Maybe be a leaky cap or a tube, but replacing the oil trap is probably a good idea.

The BBY has a better crankcase ventilation compared to the AUA. On my AUA there is hardly any underpressure at all when opening the filler cap at idle.
But on my BBY the underpressure is easy to observe in the same situation .
So I think you might have either a clogged trap or an engine with very high piston leakage.
