Best place to buy parts?

I'm looking for a relay (see my other thread).

I've found plenty 2nd hand on e-bay but while I was looking I couldn't find a website that was selling the part new ( I was curious as to the price of a new one). Am I expected to use a dealer? I'd rather not as they are quite a long way away and I'm not sure they'll post. What do others do? I kind of expected to find a big audi run site that posts stuff worldwide (but then I am new and probably naive).

For this type of part I would buy new, direct from an Audi dealer......What prt number have you been looking at ??

Stoke Audi's parts department are willing to post stuff (obviously there will be a charge).

For bits & pieces sometimes I use GFS (german/french/swedish), there is also another big one but it's name has escaped me.

Audi parts are not crazy expensive compared with oem suppliers on most bits.
I get all my service items from there now.

Thanks very much. I'll update my other thread with my method but basically I need a headlight switch (8Z2 941 531 D). I just reckon if I'm going to have to buy one then I might as well get one that looks less tatty than the current one!

Right. And if you feed nininet.de with the part number (complete, so don't forget colour codes when they might exist) then you'll see the German recommended price for the part, which is a reasonable indicator if you're talking hundreds or tens or whatever.

Looks like you have a choice of 2.......same item but different colours (although both black)

Dealer price

1. 8Z2 941 531 D 5PR = Soul Black
2. 8Z2 941 531 D B98 = Satin Black

£76.23 + VAT = £91.48

Jeff - thanks for that although I'm pulling a face at the price. Maybe a second hand one wouldn't so bad after all.

Mine is a 5PR so Soul Black it is.

Alison,

You should take care if buying the switch or stalk second hand as the contacts do wear out, and for the soul black main switch, this also suffers from cosmetic wear (the same as the climate buttons).

Are you sure it's the main switch and not the stalk???
