Any product recomendations for smoothing down the paint surface and getting rid of spots etc after washing the car and before waxing.T-cut is too abrasive i think....

The nearest stuff to that was the Zymol HD Cleanse liquid i splashed out on years ago..smelt like chocolate.Never used a clay bar though.I think "Mer" do one ....don't know if its any good.Don't want to spend a fortune

claybar for removing fly poo, tar, general surface contaminants. For removing the mild scratches, I'd go somewhere else entirely, namely menzerna. But you'll need a machine and it's not that easy to get right.

Quick version is AutoGlym Super Resin Polish as it has some fillers in it, filling some of the smaller scratches, giving you a better finish. But it's no substitute for doing the job properly.

I have some super resin, I agree it did make the scratches come out a little but not completely.

Clay bars will remove as already posted surface contam and leave the paint very smooth AG super resin has got a bit of a cut about it so thats why it does remove some scratches but not all. The only way to do this properly is machine polish never seen anything that can remove scratches by hand, the ones that say they can have normally got fillers in so will wash out over time

thing I like about Bilt Hamber's claybar is the lube is water. So you don't dry the car, you just get on with claying it...

I then use EGP, let it cure, polish and then a layer or two of Colly 476. Holds for 6 months. Did it in early June, and this week we were out on some gravel. There's signs of that only on the boot, all the stuff on the sides - including from the week before at LHR, where I was in some serious puddles) was washed off by the rain on the way home.

Can't agree more. My sequence for immaculate finish is to wash car with Maguires Liquid Gold shampoo. While still wet, use damp cloth with a little 2-stroke petrol to remove tar spots. Then clay car with spray lubricant. Use Menzerna 203S on slow to medium setting on polishing mop working in horizontal strokes. Clean off with microfibre cloth. Apply Collinite 476S wax by hand with damp microfibre cloth, then remove by hand with microfibre for streak-free mirror finish.
