Blaupunkt installation issues?

Hi all,
When I bought my ‘01 it already had an aftermarket stereo fitted. I am suspecting it wasn’t properly installed, as the radio doesn’t turn on/off with the ignition switch (stays on after I take out the ignition key).

Any blaupunkt/car stereo experts here? I am a complete newbie when it comes to car stereo installations.

(Four pictures that might help out, but what do I know ?)

Somewhere in the wiring loom there is an ignition live wire that has been wired into a permanent live. Until this is found and corrected the radio will continue to stay live. If you have the manual for the stereo, or sometimes on a sticker on it there is a basic wiring diagram. When you located the ignition live wire , disconnect it from the current connection and extend it to an ignition live in the fuse box. Quickest way to join into fuse box is to use a piggy back lead. This plugs directly into the fuse box where the existing fuse was and you fit a new fuse for the lead you are connecting.

Just make sure you fit the piggy back round the correct way. The lower blade in the above picture is the FUSED side of the connector so the upper is the unfused live side. Chech the fuse location in the box with a meter to find the live side and plug into accordingly. This side varies LHD to RHD due to the fuse box being rotated 180.

Thank you so much!

Hello,
Just as a personal note, I bought three A2s in the last 18 months and 2 of them, plus 2 other A2s that I considered buying, had (badly fitted) Blaupunkts that worked poorly. A coincidence? I've fitted their original Audi radios he 2 1.4s but the 1.6 will get a modern unobtrusive radio with hands-free Bluetooth.
Best
Stefano
