Bmw bobber late life crisis

Yes, she's over the moon with it, exactly the same engine but geared slightly different.
Great bikes - I had an X for best part of 50k miles. Reliable, economical and fun to ride!

She wants a screen for it now, she didn't like the wind blast at 90,
That reminds me of when my wife first rode my RT on a long journey. She was used to riding her CB500, which only had a small fly screen on it, but as we were going down to see my folks, we were 2-up on my R1100RT. We swapped over at the services and she accelerated briskly down the sliproad onto the motorway. By the time we were merged onto the motorway we were doing 70mph in 2nd gear - she had no idea how fast we were going due to the lack of wind blast!

That's not a lot - it should be in very good nick (sorry!) I have an idea they had a high output alternator for all the ancillaries, which might be handy.

if that’s the case will be very handy as I’ve ordered a set of cylinder crash bars as I want to mount a Yellow side lamp ? as per picky..I found a couple of old vintage on e bay .

Really really like this idea I am buying a new quality open face helmet and then I’m going to attempt to make it look just like this one no not by scratching it ? but using paint only, for this distressed effect using brushed acrylic paints and sealing with satin lacquer my xmas project ..let’s see ?

Yes IMHO it’s fine 400grit to take off sheen ..acrylic paint does not effect the base I will use it’s water based and I can build up the layers of paint to get the right effect then seal it with lacquer the iso standard sticker has to be retained according to plod ..
From research it’s the inside of the helmet that has the structural integrity and does most of the protection the outer layer holds its form..

As someone that used to commute on bikes all year round, the idea of open faced helmets and nobbly tyres on tarmac is just makes me shiver.

Broken enough bones and seen enough of when it goes wrong.

Have seen motorbike airbags? Can’t recommend enough

It was an old fiberglass AGV I had lying around - Acrylic white primer base, then a combination of airbrush and hand painting with acrylic paints, topped off with about 5 coats of acrylic lacquer..... this was done almost 20 years ago and still has a great shine..... Was thinking of doing another, as I now ride a Ducati Monster 796.....

As per one if the previous pictures of the stainless lobster tail stainless exhausts I’ve ordered the sections laser cut out to a cad drawing I had to have done for them ..I worked it all out and the guy who drew it only charged £20 his contact details on the drawing it is what he does one man band .. He will even design what you want and see it through production real handy guy to know I’ve ordered enough to make two sets of two one I’m hoping to sell on to pay for mine these Pipes tig welded nicely look great .unlike the picture of the one earlier in this post ..messy ..but you get the idea ?..

Well the bobber seat I sent off to Sweden is on its way back from Kenneth Dyrviks he has done an amazing job ..way beyond my expectations... I’ve always had a passion for the Norsk history..having worked in Scandinavia fir 3 1/2 years so I wanted that theme on my seat oden and his two ravens huginn and muninn..he’s an exceptional leather worker..for those of you that don’t know Odins story and are looking at him thinking he’s only got one eye your right he fell on his spear to sacrifice his eye to gain more divine wisdom ..

Great to see how the bike/bobber/BMW twin passion overlaps with A2 enthusiasm!

Until recently, I had had a 2011 GSA for commuting/touring and this for fun:

A BMW R-Nine-T; very much the modern equivalent!

Very nice as you say the modern day equivalent...they haven’t really changed a lot since 1923 ? I have had the modern bmw but I like now the older cafe racer bobber ones looking at another cafe now .. Found it a lot easier working on the motorcycles then restoring cars and trucks.. You don’t bend and move as well as you get older..and laying on concrete floors now a thing of the past ...?..next thing a motorcycle lift so I can sit on a swivel stool tinkering away to my hearts content ?..

Did a few more bits on bike did some brass casting couple of days ago with a mate thoroughly enjoyed the experience from making the wooden mould ..right through to the casting process ..badges for the fuel tank and a small dash piece to mount the spotlight switches ..oh and a crash helmet and bike jacket rack ..just got to make the coat hook out of old piston ? and got to wire the spot lights .oh and ordered two gold titanium bolts to go in dash instead of the stainless button head ..

38 years old 1 previous owner and yes 2,700 miles from new ? ..there a fair bit of light rust coming round frame ..but engine sweet should be as not yet run in ..it was recommissioned back in 2008 mot and back into store until last year again fluids changed new mot tyres but no miles acquired it today ..home in the garage it’s a real dilemma to restore as it is or mod it into something else..hard to believe the bike behind started out the same only 5 years older ..did that over first lock down ..
