Boot mounted cd multichanger

My cd multichanger has recently stopped working. It clicks and whirs, loads and unloads cds from the cartridge but then I get an error message on the head unit. I'm guessing that it's a dirty laser failing to read the disc. Is there a quick and easy fix? It's not desperate in that I still have the single slot cd in the head unit and I have a Bluetooth connection. It's just that I'm quite pedantic and want anything fitted to the car to work even if it's never used.

You could try using one of those head cleaning discs to see if that improves things. What is the error message. It may be better to remove the unit from the boot and take the case off to clean the heads and mechanism better.
