BOSE Retro-fit

Well, the sub's in and the amp's in and it all works a treat with the stock headunit (Chorus II).
Trouble is, as soon as I plug the Woodstock DAB into the system, things get a bit strange!
The sound is great, albeit with a bit of low-level interference from electrical items such as light dimmers etc. When I start the car up though, there's an alternator whine, which is very noticeable.
I've done the usual of earthing everything (head and amp) at one point, but to no avail.
The output from the DAB 54s RCAs is 2.2volts, which may be a bit on the high side for the Bose amp, but I'm really starting to pull my hair out now.
Any suggestions anyone? I'd rather not go down the surpression route, as this only masks noise, but doesn't remove it.
HELP!!

WAS : A2 TDI SE 2001 Ebony Black Pearl (The Little Tank!)
NOW : A2 TDi 90 Sport, OpenSky, winter pack, ISOfix, all-round fogs, climate control, all-round electric windows, Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB54, genuine HID xenons and red leather! Not to mention CCC Tech chipping (118bhp), K&N air filter, all round tinting, all-black headlining and retro-fitted cruise control and GALA.(The NEW Tank).

Well, a quick update:

This mornings drive into work showed a complete absence of alternator whine, but there is still a low-level clicking present, which is perfectly in time with the engine firing.

Just to round off this thread, the clicking and all other noise issues have been finally solved by the RNS-E installation.

It seems that Audi Bose amps do not like any headunit other than genuine Audi ones.

Cheers,

Mike

I also get the low level clicking through the rear speakers only (non bose) even when the stereo is turned off. This has happened since i had the coil packs replaced due to two failing.

Any suggestions? Audi were stumped saying that all A2s doing it... my only thought is to get an attenuator fitted to the power supply of the small amp in the passenger footwell driving the back speakers.

Shouldn't be happening - and if it's only since you've had the coils changed, then I would suggest that either they are defective, or they've been installed incorrectly.

If the car's under warranty, get 'em to solve it. Rant and rave and shout (you'll probably need to now as in my experience, most dealers don't give a toss now that the A2 is out of production) but make sure they sort it, or compensate you accordingly.

Cheers,

Mike
