Brake light switch

Hi all, has anyone had this problem were when the brake pedal is applied the brake
lights stay on even after pedal being depressed. I,ve ordered an original switch from
Audi to arrive in a few days time but I now have ABS warning light and ASR warning light
on display. Could these warning lights have come on as the car was driven for a quite a while with
the brake lights on?
I know the brake lights problem is the switch because if I manually pull the brake pedal forward
a few mil the brake lights go out but the warning lights stay on.
Cheers and thank you for any replies!!

Hi Kev,

The first thing I would do is get a scan done, that should give you a idear what's going on.

I don't know what part of the country you are in, but audis in the park is coming up if you come along I can scan it for you.

Cheers

Cheers for that Dave but Im in the East yorkshire area not too far from the Humber Bridge
I think your right though! a scan does sound a good idea but I just thought that it was a
coincidence that as soon as the brake light switch started playing up the warning lights
came on!!
Cheers Kev

Hi churchill
My brake foot pedal switch went and it threw up blackpool illuminations on the dash. Local independent changed the switch and all was well. Not 100% sure but I think he said it was a standard VW switch, but could be wrong.

The brake light switch travel is adjustable on ratchet type mechanism. If it is set wrong then the lights will not go out. Maybe the ratchet is broken?

Yeah thanks for that! I changed the switch the other night, brake lights now working ok
but still have the warning lights on.
I have the car booked in this Monday for scan and hopefully to just reset alarm codes.
Thanks for replies
Kev
