Brake problems

Hi All!

I bought my A2 1.4 TDI 75 hp in may 2001. I never had mechanical problems until two years ago, when I changed brake discs at 70.000 km. From then and after approx 2.000 km forom each change of discs, the car vibrates when braking.
I had to to change discs 8 times from september 2003!
Local Audi service Centre doesn't know what to do (They also tried to change axle shafts) and Italian importer (Autogerma) seems not to take care of my car.

Anyone here experienced the same problem?
Anyone fixed it?

Thanks

IIRC some pads have a layer in them that causes juddering to let you know they need changeing - do yours?

I know

But vibrations begin after 2.000 kms! Discs and pads are all as new!

If the brakes are ok immediately after fitting new discs and gradually start to judder again then it could be a sticking brake caliper. This would cause the discs to overheat and warp. It should be fairly obvious as the brakes would run hot all the time.
After so many replacements the garage should have checked the wheel bearings and hub run-out at the disc mounting face. The discs should also be checked for run-out after installation.

You don't by any chance after stopping from high speed keep your foot on the brake pedal, if you do this can cause warping of the disc as the heat where the pads are on the disc cannot escape, this usually happens to cars with an automatic gearbox but is not unheard of with a manual gear shift.

Last week original Audi discs were replaced by Zimmermann discs with Textar brake pads; my Audi service partner says this stuff should be much better than original parts. I hope so.
In the next weeks I'll test the new discs as I will have to drive on Dolomiti mountains roads (Eastern Alps, Italy).

This is what Audi service partner told me; this usually happens on tiptronic cars, but never on manual cars, especially on A2s!
I also own a '02 A4 2.5 TDI Tiptronic quattro with 122.000 kms and I've never had brake problems like that. So I can say this is not a problem caused by my kind of driving...
