Breakdown cover

Autoaid I have been with them for 10 yrs cover you and spouse for any car you drive.
I have used them several times, they are very good and only 58 quid.
Don’t bother with other rip off merchants

Exactly! Although the price has gone up this year to £58 still great value.

Gonna ring em later.
Cheers guys

@Providence
What level of cover do you get for your £34.50 please?
Mac
Home start, recovery to repair place, recovery home or to destination, hire car, accomodation. 6 calls a year which can be upgraded to unlimited for more money. I have used them for home start when I had CCCU trouble and the guy who attended says he does calls for all the breakdown companies, even AA and RAC when they are busy!

Update guys.
Rang the AA and they have more than halved the original quote, plus one or two extras.
Just seen this that they are offering.

Asda 5 star defacto rated, supplied via brittania which is part of LV i think was £78 last time i got it but have never called them so dont know how they respond in fairness
Brittania have gone really down hill, some of the sub-contractors they use are appalling. I had to get recovered about 2 years ago the first subcontractor they sent out couldn't fix it at the roadside and then refused to take me to my destination, but transported me another 5 miles to the next service station where another subcontractor (different company) would take me to my destination. I waited over an hour for the first subcontractor to come out and then had to wait a further 40 minutes for the 2nd subcontractor to turn up. The basically as a company couldn't run a bath. Prior to this about a year earlier the alternator failed on the wifes car and the guy got me on the recovery truck and then asked where I wanted to go at 1am in the morning when I said Southampton he refused and unloaded the car and told me I had to ring the contact centre again. I reported this but was told there was nothing they could do about this but they would get someone else out to me to take me.

I'm now with Autoaid, have been for the last 2 years, called them out on a couple of occasions they have sent competent mechanics each time who have diagnosed the fault quickly and where possible provided a temporary repair to enable me to complete my journey or get to the garage under my own steam so to speak, each occasion they have followed me to make sure I have got there rather than having to load and unload the car. Can't fault them at all

Further to my earlier post about having personal cover with Green Flag through my bank account. Read the policy again and clearly states cover only for vehicles up to 16 years old. I rang the banks Green Flag number and inquired about what if the car was more than 16 years old. The nice lady explained that as my personal cover did not specify a car registration, if I gave her the registration of the old car that would be listed as the primary car on the policy and WOULD BE COVERED. She then went on to explain the finer details of personal cover and hidden away it states recovery a maximum of 10 miles.... I asked if that could be upgraded to national recovery and she went away to check if it could. Anyway 30 seconds later she came back and said yes it could but it would cost me £46 to do so. I duly paid for the upgrade and am now fully covered on my A2 and also for driver or passenger of other cars under 16 years old.
So the moral of this is if you have bank provided breakdown cover and your car is too old then inquire as I did. Also check for any restrictions in the cover such as mileage limits, roadworthy, MOT, tax, insurance and if bought from an auction ( including on line auction ).
