Concur with all the appreciative comments - but I do find myself asking the following : how did you secure the auto headlight switch with auto facia ring at the correct depth in the outer? I haven't yet got round to cutting the original casing to accommodate the auto surround with the extra position, largely because once that has been cut away I'm a little puzzled as to what one needs to do to get the switch cylinder to lock home with those wee teeth that come out of the sides of the cylinder to secure it in the original casing, without it still locking home a good half inch too deep because that's where the original locking points are (as it does now in the non-auto housing).

The auto headlight does sit proud of the surround, but to tidy it up there's a chrome surround that covers the edge. I can't remember what part it is, I think it's for a T5 transporter but it's all on the auto headlight thread.

As for the DRL wiring, I was lucky that the previous owner had already run a wire for the DRLs behind the foglight cover, so all.i had to do was plug them in.

I'm pretty sure there is a pin output on A2 headlights for DRLs for the European market.

Do you have a close-up pic of the DRL units, what brand/model are they?
there certainly is a pin out on the light switch for DLR's, it is present on all of the Audi light switches, just not normally used.
The worst job by far is getting the wiring from the switch to the DRL's :)

@Robin_Cox look at the thread I did on the chrome bezel for switch fitting options.

Hi Steve, would you have a pic of them turned off as well - see how/where you mounted them?
Might do something similar, or just fit from fogs not sure yet.
John

I certainly will Steve, never missed a beat on the 200+ mile journey back home, at Hilton Park services for a costa fortune, sorry coffee to keep awake, it's been a long two days arriving back off holiday at three Sunday morning then the drive down from Wigan to you and back.

Haven’t read this again since the thread was created, but what a great car Frankie was. Enjoyed building that one. Can’t believe it’s been almost 3 years since we sold him.

If anyone is wondering why he’s called Frankie, it’s because parts from a number of different A2’s went into making it, so Frankenstein’s monster ?

I know Frankie has had an easy life since leaving us and been looked after well by both John Almond and Terry.

Frankie’s stable mate at the time Peppa wasn’t as lucky over the same period and has had a real hammering and was driven into the ground. Luckily Hef now has her and is working hard to bring her back to better than new.

I hope Frankie is still in that great condition! Every now and then I wonder why I didn’t make the effort to view her!
