Building my Frankie

Mine came out black but I did split the carrier putting it back in

I’m allergic to nature so having a filter does make my car better - mostly visibility.

The inside is back together briefly, we have some chrome work to do which means it’ll be back out for that.

Just took some pictures for a quick update, excuse the mess - daily driver, so at the moments she’s covered in runaway fish n chips and a lot of sand (esp the backseats!!!) Other than that, I’m loving the way the interior is shaping up :)

And the head unit wired up by @stevec
? #lovingIt

The bad edge is our fault ? hoping to conceal that with chrome edging.... ?

Ended up ripping the new white vinyl off the door cards and just painting them....this uncharacteristically hot weather is not good for vinyl ? It was neigh in perfect when we fitted it the second time, but the heat just caused it to bubble all over. So, we’re on doorcards Mk3..., watch this space ?

As for the exterior, the DRL’s are in. Not a fan of the spots, so they’re going as soon as we get new fog light surrounds.

Hello

I am writing this knowing that you are sadly selling Frankie, may I ask what kind of fog light are they? Or is it a ring fitted around them?
I have to replace at least one of my fog light on my daily and wonder if I could do something similar to yours.
Thanks

Hi, they were a separate ring around the fog light - eBay purchase (10 cm diameter I believe). I took them off about a few months ago and Steve gave them to a friend in London, otherwise I would have sent them your way. Kind regards, Sam

Even on a gloomy day in Wales she still shines :)

Fed up with trying to find my way home from work down country lanes using candle power I've decided to upgrade.

6000k HIDs (car is on an upward incline hence the glare)

Can we have more info on this please Steve?

Yes mate, it's just a 6000k H7R HID kit. About £20 I think and took about 10 minutes to fit. For some reason though it doesn't agree with the coming home function on the auto headlights

I'm surprised, my HIDs are fine with the auto light switch and home function. What do they do?

Once the car is locked on the fob, the home function keeps cycling until you manually switch the headlights off.
Sounds like the switch doesn't like the hid ballast load. I use this one...

Frankie gets a relatively easy life, a 8 mile commute to work down country lanes with my driving based on achieving good mpg; but lately I've found the performance to be a bit lacking. Hard to describe but a feeling that the car is holding back and a bit lethargic.

For the last few days I've been giving her an Italian tune when possible, not ragging her, but using the rev range as much as possible. What a massive difference its made, its like night and day from the way she was driving last week. She's picking up quicker, doesn't need to be revved as hard to get moving and actually sounds quieter.

So the moral of the story, especially for all the hyper milers, give your little TDI a good clear out now and again, it does the world of good :)
