Byzanz Purple A2

Beautiful colour; nostalgia points me to VW Corrado - didn't that come in a purple or is the oil' grey matter playing tricks; likely.
 
The reason I wanted this A2, is the second car I owed was a Cortina Mk2 1600GT
Had it sprayed this colour in 1975.Was stolen from outside Aldershot Stock Car stadium the next year

Yes, that a C4 Tdi paid £900 for it in 09 with 130k on it, now done 206k still does over 50mpg

Never seen A2's over here with Boleros so being a Euro option makes sense. Pcd 5 x 100 to me seams like a very small bolt pattern compared to the Audi 80's 5 x 108 and the C4's of 112.

Looks like the C4 is giving you superb service and a good buy.

?? Real MSH,got that bit,not the rest. That other car is a V8?
 
I reckon that we should have a line up at the next social, one of each colour all lined up (including a factory white and a non factory white!)

That would be quite a good picture!!!

This is a stunning colour too, great to see the rarer colours.

The rather Special Corrado Campaign (6 produced for Karmann dealers) featured Dusty Mauve Paintwork ...

Greetings Terrywindy1, you and I have something in common that no one else has?!?! We both own Byzanz purple Audi A2s!!! I bought the one shown in the pics above and after checking out the forums I contacted the guy you bought yours from and he told me he’d sold it to you. Hope you enjoy driving yours as much as I do mine! I’m over in Liverpool but maybe sometime we could meet up and photograph the 2 cars together!? All the best, happy driving! Davie
 
After many years, a lot of frustration, a replacement engine and box with many new parts and loadsamoney
I have finally got the Purple Fsi running right
( touch wood)
Like to say a big thank you to Rob and Marcus at WOM Automotive with them this beautiful A2 would probably have been broken for spares.
Also thanks to Clackers for supplying engine and box.
And Tom timmus because he works on everyone's A2.
Still have a few jobs to do to it
Main one to replace the rooflining which is sagging but Tom managed to find me a good replacement one ,which has been taking up space in a bedroom for a long time much too Mrs Windys annoyance.
Anyway here are few photos from last couple of days cleaning .

Looks fantastic this car fella!
My other half’s favourite colour, it’s the only othe colour a2 I would buy instead of my next a2 purchase (a colour storm ?) just to keep someone happy!

I come from a big ford family so remember that colour well, and from a proper ford!
