can anybody repair open sky with the kit?

seems no one wants to help you...unless there's a lot of money in it for them...same problem I'm having....I love my A2 but will probably switch brands soon due to this attitude from Audi over a glaring design fault.

For those who have not followed the previous threads on Open Sky, in addition to greasing the cables etc you also need to treat all the roof panel seals with silicone lubricant - http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showpost.php?p=38394&postcount=11

Cheers Spike

I think there is scope for confusion here. The link refers to the soft rubber seals that form a weatherproof seal inside. The seal that Dan B I think is referring to is the hard plastic join between the glass panels and specifically where the 2nd glss panel meets the fixed glass roof.

I had the same problem as Dan B with the hard plastic join and as I could not find any silicone lubricant I have as a temporary measure run beeswax across it, which has fixed the problem.

A question for the technical guys, I understand that silicone lubricant is ideal for the soft internal seals but for the hard plastic which is subject to far more weathering what is the best lubricant?

no progress

Well been to Audi confirmed with the visual inspection its broken and needs replaced Waiting to see if Audi will make a contribution Going to have to seek further action as i have only had it 6 months

another one

yet another person disappointed with Audi due to their attitude over the open sky issue....surely a low cost fix must be possible?

A2 open sky

I am now in a big fight I even have an Audi case worker to try and resolve this I now have broken sunroof speaker door strap intermittent a/c and a funny noise This is a poor example of approved used (my last on not a squeak to 117,000)
Have found out
The jig is required for support when sunroof is out only Stockport (they never got back to me so if they can use the kit I still don't know
You could save a lot by stripping out and replacing all the headlining yourself
It costs 1060 for a new cartridge as they call it
All round though not good

Hello all.
Firstly please let me say a big "Hello" to all members of this forum.
Second: I have a problem with my opensky system. I have removed the entire panel from the car and it looks like its needs new cables.
Can you please let me know @haudi partner where did you bought the repair kit ? Or someone else knows where to buy this or a piece code/serial ?
Thanks all.
Wish you all the best.

Hi why not drop Tony (member name Hotstuff) a pm or contact him at A2cars. He replace my wives roof and has many years experience in sunroofs so should be able to help you. cheers mike

Audi has a 10 years warranty on the open sky roof.
There is one Audi dealer in the south of germany who replaces these roofs for a brand new better one for free if your car is Audi maintained.
It might cost you only a large maintenance service at the max.
They are more or less the goeroe of VAG glass roofs.

They can also repair these roofs using this repair kit mentioned for maximal 500 euro's.
A few guy's from the dutch Audi A2 forum allready being there.
The only thing I hear are positive returns, friendly and performing a perfect job.

In fact, it is ridiculous that a regular Audi workshop can't do this.
Not only in the UK, but in the Netherlands and Norway it isn't any different.

Hi Raulddan,

I am in the same boat as you and my broken sky is a real bugbear, particularly in this glorious sunshine! Tony is finalising his sunroof repair service using re-conditioned OSS. Our brief chat about this when I visited his garage in MK lead me to believe that this will make a repair much more financially viable i.e nowhere near the 2k Audi quotes mentioned on the forum. That said, since there is still a lot of labour involved, I doubt it will be cheap.

Max
