Hello,

I have a 2004 a2 tdi with this comfort unit !8z0959433ah) and i can't acces to the channel to adapt remote fob.

Coding is 02048

Is necessary to change the comfort unit or i only need to recode it?

Thanks!

Sorry nobody has replied.

I know little about this stuff but I think it would help to add some background like what you are trying to achieve and why.

Good morning,

I recently bought a A2 1.4 TDi that does not have a remote control as standard (and only front electric windows).

I read in a Spanish forum that it was simply to add the antenna and marry it with the vcds (better than with the key in the lock).

I bought an a2 key of the latest models (8Z0 837 231 D) that has yet to reach me, but I went to the car to try to connect to the channel and to my surprise, that channel was not accessible.

From what I have read in foreign forums (for me), the coding of my comfort unit is 02048, which only has front electric power windows. I think if it was coded as 06720, I could access the remote control channels (or am I wrong?)

The question, I think, it would be is if my control unit 8z0959433AH is capable of being encoded so that it can recognize the signal from the remote control (which I think will depend on whether the control unit is PR-5D0 or PR-5D1).

I also don't know how to check if mine is PR-5D0 or 5D1 ….

Thanks!

Does your car either have the original options code sticker in the service book or else in the battery compartment? This should have the codes on it that would tell you whether you have PR-5D0 or 5D1.

http://prsearch.planetvag.com/

has a table you can use to translate the option codes into something meaningful

This old post seems to confirm your findings from the Spanish Forum - https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/retro-fit-remote-central-locking.39929/post-355298

Plus lots of info in this thread which may be helpful - https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/hi-all-from-barcelona.24354/post-206977

Cheers Spike

Spike, I have read in some posts that you were good looking for information. And I confirm 100% that it is. :D :D :D

I have searched a thousand sites and had not located the information you link to me, but it is just my case.

With that information I can make the remote control work on my A2 (I don't know that reference AH had the antenna integrated, so great).

Thank you!!

I know the differences between all the UK-spec CCCUs, but they all come with remote central locking, so that's not really very helpful. Unfortunately, I haven't yet understood the differences between the various Central Europeans CCCUs, so don't know which ones come with remote central locking and which ones don't. It could be that 8Z0 959 433 AH has the internal hardware to work with remote central locking, but that you need to enter the correct coding before Channel 21 is accessible via VCDS.
I have successfully retrofitted remote central locking to a left-hand-drive A2 using 8Z0 959 433 AC, so I know this definitely has the required functionality. However, be aware that the antenna is not integrated into the CCCU. When retrofitting remote central locking, you also need to retrofit the antenna. The antenna plugs into the red CCCU connector (which is Connector 4, if I remember correctly).

Cheers,

Tom

Good morning,

Yesterday I tried to recode the unit (to use remote control) and I was not able.

I acces module 46, modified the coding to 06768 (originally it was 02048) and pressing "do it!". The issue is that the new value was not saved.

Do I have to do something like login? What am I doing wrong?

Thank you!!

The problem is that Your module doesn't have radio control frequency 433MHz. Check You sticker in car trunk or service manual if there is 5D0 - if yes then You car hasn't got radio control. Only 5D1 have.

If yes You need to change the the central convenience module or comfort module. In Your case You need to stick only with double letter newer one - like AF. Please remember to as the seller if the module operate radio control. There are also some AF with 5D0 and You need to search for 5D1.

Also some useful table:

There is a good manual from a German A2 forum - see below. I tried and in my case it worked. The link is using google translate:

If You need any more information please write to me.

The CCCU will reject the coding (i.e. it will not save) if the required hardware for that coding is not present.
So, if you try to code a CCCU to switch on the 'beep-on-lock' feature, but the A2 does not have an alarm system, the CCCU will reject the coding. If you try to code a basic airbag control module to work with the SideGuard curtain airbags, it will reject the coding because it doesn't have the correct number of airbag outputs.
You are trying to switch on the remote central locking feature in a CCCU that doesn't have the required hardware, so the coding is rejected.

You need to change your CCCU for another one with the correct internal hardware.

Cheers,

Tom

Many thanks.

I have looked for the sticker in the trunk of the car but couldn't find it. I'm going to look for her again to see if I find the sticker.

With the link that you have passed me (which is not from the wiki), it explains very well what I should do.

Also, I didn't know that if I put the beep on the car lock and had no alarm, It Will not accept the new code.

So the first thing is to look for the sticker in the car (it's not in the maintenance book) and make sure I can't have remote control ECU in AH unit. And if the ECU cannot support remote control, look for an AF

Thanks!!!

Search where the battery is in the trunk. There should be a sticker.

It is not that Your ECU but the CCCU that do not have radio control.

Hi!

I finally found the sticker in the battery compartment (it was not easy to see since it is placed in a different place than the ones I saw in the forum).

It is a PR-5D0, so it cannot take radio control. I have already bought an AF CCCU, which should be compatible. When I have it, I will try to configure it and hopefully it will work properly.

Thank you very much to all!

In my case I needed to add an antena to extend the signal. The remote is working inthe car but has problems outside.

I've bought it in a german shop for 24euro with shipment.

It is way much easier too add a third party unit to your car. Works exactly as the original. The keys are close to the originals too. Installation is 4 cables inside the doors an two for the turning lights. That's it. On our. I bought this

including transponders and keys ... Works perfect, comfort closing the windows also works.

Yes that is true it is an easier way. I wanted to have it as it was originally. That is why I've tried the harder road.

Good morning!

Yesterday came the new CCCU finished in AF, and also had part of the wiring of a car that I saw in the scrapping and had remote control.

Is the antenna the transparent cable that I have in my fingers?

Thanks!

@timmus is you man to answer this
The aerial for the remote exits the A2 behind the rear bumper on your passenger side LH drive car)
I’m not sure which wire from the cccu feeds to the aerial

The antenna uses coaxial cable and connects to pins 15 and 16 of Connector 5 of the CCCU.

Cheers,

Tom
