Car doesn't like to start after sitting

Sometimes my A2 (1.4 petrol, BBY) sits for one or two weeks between drives. When I then go to start it it takes longer than usual and when it 'roars' to life, it revs to 1600 RPM which feels like overcompensation from the engine. Checked the battery and that still reads 14V. No error codes, but concerned that if the car sits for longer it won't start at all. Is this normal, or does anyone here have an idea what might cause it?

Hi , illget the ball rolling 🤔 long do you drive it for when you do drive? How long before the revs come down to normal if left on tick over? Any smoke or lumpy running? Any errors codes?

Usually not too far. 20 km or so. The revs go back down immediately, and the car runs fine after that. No error codes.

Have you tried turning the Ignition on then waiting for the Fuel Pump to stop before Starting the Engine ?

The car sat again for a week and a half, and after waiting for the fuel pump it started just fine. Perhaps the fuel pump is just a bit tired, thank you for the idea. :)

We always turn the Ignition on and wait for the Fuel Pump to stop before trying to Start the Engine. Seems to work. Maybe it means the Fuel Pump is not as efficient as it should be / used to be ?
