Car having a 'dicky fit!'

My car has started having a 'dicky fit' when first started from cold.
The interior lights flicker at high speed with a matching loud clicking sound from the rear interior of the car. Occasionally also the hazard warning lights do the same and you can't switch any of them off.
Whilst the car is doing this the windows/sunroof won't work.
After a couple of miles the light goes out and the car returns to normal.
Car is a '51 plate and probably on original battery but no problems with the starting/running.
Any ideas?

As you say could it be the CCU? I think the clicking could be from the central locking. Are these the symptoms of this unit failing?

Sounds like the CCU to me too -does the clicking sound like it's coming from the passenger footwell? There's an access panel in there take it off and have a listen if it gets louder!
These can be repaired - there's a forum member in Germany who does a repairs service.

Thanks Dan,

The clicking seems to be coming from the rear doors' central locking. When it does it (at the moment just on a morning from start up until warm) the clicking is very fast and the interior lights flicker in unison. The rear doors won't open but the fronts will! After around 5 to 10 mins it stops and the interior lights go out as they would after you had just got in the car, if you get my meaning! The windows/roof won't open whilst it's clicking etc.
Could it be a failing central locking relay or is it all pointing towards the comfort unit?
