To anyone who missed today at Castle Coombe circuit, you missed a very good day out.[37]
As well as the A2OC making its presence felt, there were many other clubs including Club Audi, The Quattro Owners Club, The S2 Club, TT Owners Club and several more to boot. There was some very tasty machinery on display - with quite a lot of it being driven at warp factor 1 round the circuit. My lasting memories will be of the awesome silver SWB Quattro which sounded like an explosion in a fireworks factory and the old gold 100 Avant which was dicing it on the circuit with S4's and RS6's.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a 1.4SE petrol. http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/uk14.htm http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/safety.htm
New A2 - Ebony Black, Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

We all took part in the grand parade around the track at the end of the day but Lukas also did a few high speed laps during the afternoon. Before we left, one of the marshalls said to me that his 'line' around the track was one of the best he saw during the whole day!

The photos sent to me so far can be seen at: http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/meet2.htm

Looking at the photos of the day, you've got to feel for the guy in the A8 - hope he had special insurance for the day![29]
The head on shot of Lukas on the track does look good. As does the shot where he has just left the Blue S4 for dead coming onto the pit straight.;)[21]

It was a grand day out. There were about 6 of us who left in convoy at the end and the looks/reactions we got from other motorists was brilliant. As we left the circuit and headed down the country roads towards the motorway I was one off the back of the convoy, Johann who was at the back must have noticed this too, people travelling in the opposite direction must have got a shock to see all these A2's snaking around the corner as I could see them pointing and commenting with smiles on their faces. Just imagine the reaction if there's 20 - 30 A2's as Stuart would like.

The opportunity of going on the parade lap for two laps of the circuit at the end of the day left many of us wishing we'd gone out for track sessions. Lukas acquitted himself well on the track and didn't let the side down,it was good looking out for him as he was gliding around the track, there were some sceptics around the track who were impressed at the way the A2 handled around the track. Initially there were some "that'll topple over comments" but once they saw the A2 go round they were impressed.

There was a really good atmosphere and I'd thoroughly recommend it. It was good meeting all the chaps and chapesses and putting faces to names.

Shaf: I was indeed behind you and I was very happy to see on those country lanes that you don't use your brakes either but actually accelarate through them!!! Just as an A2 should be used in my opinion!

Great day out and next time I will definitely consider doing a few rounds on the track... after the parade lap I realised it was not scary at all! But then there wasn't any cars coming from behind at 150mph plus!

Sorry I missed it folks, it looks a good day out, but I'd ONLY JUST RETURNED from Castle Coombe. Next year for sure, we'll sure to get more notice of the event.

Definitely Johann. Nice to know you noticed that, I could see you were enjoying those country lanes as you were catching me up through the bends. Like I said on Saturday if you get a chance try the Sport out on country lanes, you'll enjoy it.
Cheers

Hey guys thanks for all your support as i carreered around the bends - the a2 handles brilliantly and it was fun getting some pro instruction from one of the resident instructors - I think he was called David De Costa. His last outing in a Lotus Elise he ran out of fuel so this time he managed 40.7mpg on the DIS to my 44.6mpg - the lowest ever recorded mpg on a 1.2TDI? Whilst I was enjoying the racing line (the track is so much wider than normal road - i couldn't stop grinning when I got it right!), some sanity returned with the thought that if i crashed it would be a long walk home with no insurance. Even so, it is well worth doing and I understand better how my car behaves at the very limit of that 60bhp and those 145 R14 tyres! David said the chassis was amazing and couldn't belive the economy or the torque from the little diesel. He lapped at 1:50 which included letting others pass - compare this with 1:30 from an RS4 with 400 (yes 400!) more Bhp!

My best was around 1:55 - if it wasn't my car...........

Shezlee took some great footage - would love a copy.

thanks again Stu for organising and everyone else for waving and praying i didn't crash! It worked!
