Hi all ,

Just thought i would share the news ,

if you want some cheap oil get down to homebase as they are doing ;


Castrol Edge Turbo Diesel 0W 30 - 1 Litre = £4.98


Castrol Magnatec Diesel 10W 40 - 1 Litre = £2.98

Although that is cheap, I believe that neither oil is passes to the relevant VW standards.

Magnatec is really only fit for bangers in my opinion and you can't scrimp on oil - it's the lifeblood of your car.

You're right Mike. Neither one shall be used in PD engines.

So your saying you cant use this oil ?

i normally just use quantum oil from vw

No, not unless you want premature camshaft failures
If you have a TDi, the engine really needs VW 506.01 or 507.00 spec oil for long life services or 505.01 for fixed service intervals.
507.00 is the latest Audi oil spec and recommended for both long and fixed service intervals as Xiter indicates below

And to be even more clear, the 505.01 shall only be used for fixed service intervals. The 507.00 can be used for both fixed and variable service intervals.
