Changing seat airbags (change color of trim/changing cover)

As everyone thought it is not possible to disassemble the seat airbags and change the trim (when you retrofit leather seats or any seats in a different color), I now want to show you these pictures.
Without any words.
But you may contact me and ask any question.

Let me say, the black plastic material is very flexible! And there are blades from knifes (take care) or screwdrivers out there...
Remember: Working with airbags is for accomplished personnel only.

But first: disconnect the battery! Then remove the seat.
After installing the new seats with the old airbag, you have no warning light and don't need to do anything with VAGcom.

cheers

Hi Erstens,
You bought red seats that came only with the airbag covers ?
So these covers just pop up and are re-usable when the airbags deploys ?
Good job you did there :)

Normally, I think you don't get the covers when you buy used seats. That means you must use your original seat airbags and if they are in a different color, you must paint the cover to match the new color.
But I had the luck to get the covers seperately. I think the breaker disassembled and removed the explosive part of it.

Yeah, I bought the seats, doorcovers and red stearing (for ~920€) wheel and wanted to install in my car but I could sell only the seats for ! 1400€, the covers for 190 and stearing for 120€.

So I choose to sell. :) So the car we installed the seats was not my car but I was helping with the work of installation.

Looking for leather seats again! Now I know what to do with the airbag. And where the wire goes besides the seat and how to remove side covers from the seat.

That's a good deal you've done :)

I have red leather seats in my car but what I would like to have is front sports seats (I find std seats in leather too slippery).

I should have bought your interior and sell the lot including my std front seats for 1100-1200€ ;)
