Have just had my or soon to be the wifes A2 chipped at Impossible Performance in kent, all in for £275 including discount for being an A2OC member.

I cant reccomend this enough. It has totally transformed the car. What a difference it's made, the car is so much more powerful. My mpg has actually gone up because i dont need to keep constantly changing down a gear to get the same performance. This car is now offically a little pocket rocket. Love it!

It is the way to go the upsolute chip they use is one of the best in my opion, i think the only way this can be bettered is by using serial port tunning but this wasn`t/ isn`t available at the momment.

Wouldnt touch them personnally and certainly wouldnt allow them near my car, but that is only personal opinion.

interested in getting my A2 tdi chipped especially for that price!!
But what do they do the car and how does it affect the rest of the cars mechanical working (ie more stress on already high stressed components) please can you let me know since i am very interested in tuning my A2 to have more horsepower.

cheers

shao kahn, why wouldn't you touch them? Is it quality issues or just chipping A2's in general?

I'd love to chip my A2 to make it more responsive through the rev range and also better mpg's due to low range performance, however I can't afford not to have a warranty as Audi don't support chip mod's according to the 'when the chips are down' thread in this forum. Audi probably do produce their own but for a large price tag I would imagine!!

Hi Andrew

In my opinion my cars engine is less stressed after it was chipped. The engine has much more power and so you can drive it faster but with lower revs. I used to red line it on a regular basis just to keep up with the traffic, not any more it pulls harder from lower down. After speaking to a few different tuning companies they tell me that the main ingredient is increased fueling and changes to the timing. The boost is increased very slightly to prevent black exhaust smoke, this is unlike a petrol turbo which is often doubles it's PSI on the turbo which would put more stress on the turbo and engine.

Hi,

I have been thinking of having my A2 chipped for a while, and the results you describe seem impressive. There is, however, one potential problem. I have a 1.4 petrol: I can't help noticing that you all seem to have diesels, does anyone know whether it's possible for me, and precisely what kind of results I can expect?

Cheers

an engine with a turbo is easier to tune then a normal one. When you want to tune a normal petrol engine, you need to replace (tune) more than just the ECU (engine computer). Think about pistons for example. This is why you only see 1.4 TDI tuned, the effects are much greater and it`s "cheaper" to tune.:)

If you want to tune a petrol engine, the most common things to do are

1. Performance air filter and exhaust
2. High lift cams
3. Throttle bodies
4. Boring the engine out to a bigger size
5. Polishing and porting the head
6. NOS - Nitrous Oxide System
7. De-cated manifold

Unless your a mechanic there all quite difficult to do.

Plus damm expensive

RTV - What discount did you get from Impossible Performance for being a member of the A2OC?

Unless I'm being very forgetful, I didn't realise we had a discount arrangement with them?!

How annoying. I guess I'm just going to have to resign myself to feeling slug like on the move. Thanks very much for the advice though.

Unfortunately I dont want to say too much because I do not wish to make a libelous statement, but I saw a turbo conversion kit the sold for a RHD car, the lack of support they provided, and ultimately the fact that it was a LHD car kit - best place to ask about them is on the new beetle wners club site. The guy who dealt with them lost months of time havint to rectify problems - based on what I saw then I wouldnt give them a second chance - please bear in mind this is one single instance and my opinion is based upon that incident and is my own opinion which I am sharing here.

Stuart

Just before paying the advertised £295 I asked if there was a discount for being an A2OC forum member. He said that he couldn't remember what had been arranged and so charged me £275..

Hi Guys,

Just a note to say that UPsolute themselves don't supply Turbo kits etc - they are just purely a chip tuning company.
I'm a disti for UPsolute also, as you may have already noticed from this forum, and so I don't think the issue raised above is with UPsolute themselves.
Hope this has cleared up any confusion.

BTW - If a Mr Wilse with an A2 1.4PD reads this forum then please call me as your email wouldn't work !!! After more attempts than I care to remember !!!

Thanks

Simon.

If you are refering to my post then no - I was refering really to supplier not to the chip, I do appologise if in someway I inferred Upsolute was at fault.

Anyone know of any chips available for the 1.6FSi yet?

SKN chips do a 1.6FSI chip, increase from 110bhp to 126bhp
see website http://www.skn-tuning.de/audi.pdf (with hilarious voice intro at beginning followed by Colin McRae-like rallygame soundtrack!)

Scotts in Dover are their UK agents.

Ignore the fact it isnt listed in UK. They sell a 1.4 chip so they must be able to get the 1.6FSI one as well

suggest email to [email protected]

Probably be about £420 fitted, I think there is an A2OC discount available.
