As Christmas is fast approaching, our thoughts should be turning to the final social of 2003.

Early days yet but to see if this Christmas Turkey would take off, if the thought of a Christmas social, involving a traditional meal of crispy roast potatoes, carrots, cabbage, sprouts, bacon/chipolata etc etc appeals to you then let me know [24].

I'm thinking of something along the lines of a drive out to a venue, a quick gander at each other's A2's, maybe even a competition for the most festive A2!. Then inside for a hearty meal and a few rounds of Christmas carols.

Just so I can get an idea of numbers, post if you would be willing to attend. I would anticipate an early December date if we do go ahead.

I have a few questions...

1. Midweek or Weekend?
2. Midday or Evening meal?
3. Location (as with all socials this determins numbers)?

Very festive of you and I suppose this would be the right time to book..

Early days yet, but my personal thoughts were:

1. To catch the majority of people, a weekend.
2. As the days are short, I would say a midday meal to allow people time to eat and leave resonably early to catch the last bit of light.
3. No real thoughts, but I would anticipate an area not yet visited by an A2 Social e.g. East, South West, North.

Can I please have some more feedback on this-I appreciate it's months away but to get the pick of venues I'd like to make some noises now (to the venues, not just general noises!).

So any thoughts or ideas would be gratefully received.

TBH, I don't know if we'd be up for a Christmas social as it's a very busy time of year - and usually very expensive as well.

I prefer the idea of socials when the days are longer and the weather is warmer (if it doesn't heat up in the next 2 weeks, I'll be eating my words at the Heritage centre).

Just my opinion - and I never say never.

Hi Steve,

Same comment as the other guys. Its difficult enough getting together with friends and work parties over the xmas period.
Nice idea though.:D

All depends where. I spend my Christmas trying to void turkey dinners. It could be a logistic nightmare, very early booking is normally essential, and rough (but not too rough)numbers required very early. One organisation of which I am a member holds a new year lunch to avoid the christmas frenzy, usually January sometime, but then weather can be a problem for distance travellers.
