Cigarette lighter Fault

Hi all!!!

I'm having problems with my Cigarette lighter, when I push the lighter in it just sticks in and stays there.

When I manage to pull it out it isn't very hot, and when i plug my phone charger in it doesn't work unless i press hard down on it and fiddle with the positioning of the charger???

Any suggestions to what to do??
 
It sounds more like a case of a dodgy mechanism to me, if it works after a good shove.

A new socket is a cheap enough item from a dealers, but fitting it is a pain - getting the old one out is the worst bit and there's no trick other than brute force and ignorance!
