Cigarette lighter's packed up

Anyone any tips for taking apart the handbrake and lighter assembly without breaking it ? Cheers.

just a thought, have you checked to see if it's not the fuse that has blown?

I must admit I haven't. It's been a bit intermittant lately which kinda convinced me that it wasn't the fuse... then eventually packed up altogether.

Yes, there is a tip or two.

Remove the handle of the handbrake (the nose is at the bottom)
then the triangle bit covering the rest (the nose is at the bottom)
Now you can pull the section up and remove the lighter from the inside.

From your description, it's probably a loose connection and it may have blown the fuse anyway.

Managed to get it apart and have a good look at it, at least now the 'red ring' lights up so I am getting power to it. Strangely though, my sat nav charger's LED still does not light up. I've tried it in the missus' car and it works fine so it's definitely not the charger. There doesn't look to be any obvious damage or broken connections... very odd
