Cleaning beige seats!

Hi everyone,
Just wondered if anyone can recommend a cleaning product that will help restore the seats to their former glory. I have recently purchased my A2 which I love to bits, but there are a few what looks like water stains on the edge of the drivers seat nearest to door. I would like to give it a good clean but I don't want to make it even worse. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Good luck! I too have the Korma coloured interior, seats are a pig to clean.
Its not so much the cleaning thats tricky, its making sure they dry without a watermark. I tend to use a foam cleaner and use it sparingly.
I also cover the seat in a towel after to soak up any moisture that may be left.
If there is a perfect method or product to use then I too am interested!!

beige interior

Hi SANDRAC, this problem, is a constant (pain in the B-m) to beige interior A2s, i've had this problem for last 3 years & more!! I do recomend using Autoglim interior shampoo cleaner, this really works the best for me, it brings the seat coverings UP like new!! but this is a constant problem which keeps returning at the slightest sign of rain/water,no matter how hard you try, any type of water/ rain produces water-ring marks and you just cannot wet to remove as the water-ring just goes on expanding, the only way to clear is to completely wet/wash total seat area Hence the pain in BUTT, i am going to try the following When the weather improves and gets a little warmer, complete seat/interior wash (as allready stated) ive purchased some Scotch-guard which should, when sprayed all over said fabric make them water proof, (fingers crossed), hope this is of some use to you
I really do love BEIGE in't etc but can be such a pain, ALAN.
PS, anyone requiring same, i have a complete (used) beige interior including all seats, the head rests & all door cards, in reasonable condition, would make a great set to recover in leather etc, as a project through winter months, and as far as i know this set does not have any stains/ marks in beige con'd, please PM me if you are nterested /or need further claification, details, thanks ,Alan.

Hi Alan
My 2001 car has light grey 'satelite' upholstery and had the Scotchguard treatment from new. It never watermarks and stays remarkably clean. If the home application kits work as well as the professionally applied treatment you will be well pleased with the results.
Teesside Audi did it free as a surprise gift but I would happily pay for it if I ever get another car.

Cheers Spike

Hi
Thanks for your help. I think I will wait until the weather gets a little warmer to tackle it!!! great suggestions though. Where can you purchase the scotchguard treatment spray, I did not know this was available to buy?

Hi there I also have the beige seats and was told "decasol" was the only product to use.Haven't tried it yet though.:D

This has been a useful thread to read, as the new A6 has beige seats, and they really need a good clean. I'll have a go with the steam cleaner first, to get the real grime out and then try the chemical approach.

Cheers,

Mike

To echo Alan's post, the only way to do a pukka job on a dirty interior is to treat the whole area - preferably with a carpet shampooing machine or similar that has hand held attachments. This way you wont get the inevitable tide marks associated with spot application or hand washing as the solution is sprayed on and vacuumed back up straight away.
I was lucky enough to be given one of these last year, but you can hire them quite inexpensively by the day.
Ada came up lovely using hot tap water in the machine and 'rug doctor carpet detergent' available from B&Q etc. I quite rate this stuff for the car and the house. Scotchguarding sounds a good idea to add some protection after your hard graft.

@Mike - I reckon if you take the steam cleaner to the beige interior to soften anything ingrained then do something similar to the above it'll come up a treat. Another wee trick is to get some deoderant put through the air con system when you have it re-gassed ( Imagine it'll need this after being laid up for a couple of years) This should be the final stage in getting rid of that 'old car' smell.

I had a beige interior (with leather seats) in the previous A2, and I agree that the steam cleaner helps a lot.
Cleaning liquid for plastic garden furniture works very well too on plastic bits.

Hi
I've used 'Comma interior cleaner' for years on the cloth trims and seats and it still amazes me how much c@#$ it removes, infact I tend to use it on just about every surface bar the windows in the interior. It actually cleans rather than just masking and best of all leaves a totally original finish to plastics etc with no residue on cloth. The best bit of all is it's only around £3 for a 500ml spray bottle.
