Cleaning plastic door trim

I have just put a deposit on an A2 1.6 FSI Sport and collecting it next week :) I have read thru the V&D threads and think that Autoglym will be the answer, however, just wondered if there were any other products anyone can recommend?
The plastic trim on the doors (below the window and above the door handle) are pretty grubby. They have white marks on them, and just need a bloomin' good clean. I don't want a glossy/greasy effect on them, but just get them looking good. Any suggestions?
PS - Can I just say what a fab site this is, has really helped me with research, and hopefully finding the right car! :D
Thanks

don't overdo it!

Maybe some diluted APC and a microfiber, but they are an absolute b***h to clean and a replacement, should you screw it up, is €200+.

So be careful and don't get the toothbrush out.

I use this.

Cant recommend it enough

I have the light grey interior.. so as you can imagine it needs a clean every few weeks. It contains everything you need to give it a good going over, and can be used on the seats, carpets, doors, etc.. just not the dash!

Good luck in finding something.. and Im sure youl enjoy your car..

Thanks very much everyone, investment in a microfibre seems a common piece of advice too. Thanks Bret for your words of warning.

Thanks Paul for your recommendation - best tenner I've ever spent!

Collected her this afternoon and already been out polishing! Has brought the door cards up a treat. Looks so much better.

The hubby thought it was so good, he has done his car interior in it too, even though it didn't need it - his car is only 2 weeks old :D

Thanks again.

Thats great!

I used it on my interior a few days ago.... The wife and kids love the smell. :)

Next job is to fully correct the paint work, as my dual action machine polisher just arrived today.

Microfiber is good, I just use lint free cloth as I have some already. All Purpose Cleaner (APC) is also my choice. Most dirt can be cleaned with warm soapy water. I suggest you don't rub on that textured bit of plastic. If dirt is hardened in the grain and won't come off after soaking, try a well used toothbrush and mild fairy liquid. (this is how I clean the dirt in the grain of my white leather sofa at home). I've used autogym and meguiars products and i don't find them offer anything better than common all purpose cleaner from the supermarkets as far as interior cleaning is concerned.

Bit of advise, the similarly textured plastic around the gear stick has a rather weak matte coating that easily come off. I do not rub nor use any chemical on those parts.
