I have a clicking sound coming from behind the radio,it only started doing it today. The indicators work OK. Are there any relays behind the radio/centre console.
1.4 petrol.

The indicator/hazards relay is there. Could also be a climate flap (if you have climate)

Have you tested hazard function as it’s a dual function relay, it’s normally the indication function that fails.

How much are they Steve with p&p I'm in Gloucester.
What do you need to remove to gain access to the relay.

Depends how big your hands are :) To give you the most space it would be the headunit and climate panel and cubby hole. Less if you've got small hands.

It would be £20 plus £3.67 postage.

Found a spare 2 hours yesterday and wanted to fit the unit I received from @A2Steve.

Radio out - easy with correct tools.
Climate controller - there were some metal tabs on the bottom to overcome before it came out cleanly
Cubby hole - metal tab on each side

Removed the old relay and replaced with the new one. Put everything back together and I still get the clicking. (slightly different tone but same click)

So, assuming the new and old relays are not to blame - what else would make the relay click? Or could both relays be faulty?

It sounds like you'd benefit from a VCDS scan. Assuming you don't have VCDS yourself, you may nevertheless be able to get someone to help you out:

Since the tone of the clicking has changed slightly, this suggests that it is indeed coming from the indicator / hazard relay. I'm wondering if a bulb is on the verge of failing and the relay has sensed that. Do check your indicators and hazard lights very carefully for correct operation.

Thanks guys, that gives me something to check - I was worried if may be a frayed / broken wire behind all the dash - having recently repaired the wiring loom from car to tailgate I didn't fancy doing similar again. No direction lights flicker when I get the clicking noise.

Any simple way to bench test the relay?
