Anyone had problems with their climate control?
Mine doesn't seem to pump out very cool air.
Is this normal??
Anyone had a quote for a recharge of the system??

Audi A2SE 1.4Tdi

Mine has on three ocassions decided it was too hot in the car & decided to belt out full power full cooling without warning & I couldn't turn it off without stopping the car; switching off & restarting, not funny when there is snow on the ground!!! Audi might replace the panel under warranty which as my 'indicator' post might be convenient

A2 TDI Sport Leather, climate control, Bose cruise control

The climate control in our Tdi seems to cool quite effectively. If yours isn't then it's most likely in need of a recharge. It is often said that they should be done every 3 or 4 years. Most cars can be done for £60-£100 in my experience - haven't had to do the A2 so I dont know what it would be exactly.

A loacl car spare's called thomsons in maclesfield cheshire will recharge any car for £35 pounds
much cheaper than my local audi who would charge £120 for the same job

Thanks for the help. I'll dig the yellow pages out.

£35 is good value! Make sure they do the whole job though - adding the lubricating oil and uv dye so that any leaks can be traced. The garage we use are not the cheapest but they will recheck for leaks a few weeks after the refill for free and they have the know-how and equipment to repair any problems.

If there are no leaks is should not need a re-charge, it is likely that there is a small leak somewhere if it does so be sure to go back and check.

We have had 8 cars with a/c now, only two for more than three years, and none needed a recharge in that period.

1.4 Petrol Special Edition, Ebony Black, grey leather, heated seats, climate, opensky, five spoke alloys for SWMBO (Replaced a 2002 1.4 Petrol SE) Honda Accord Tourer 2.2 iCDTi for me.

Thanks again for the info.
Anyone know any good garages in the herts-St Abans area?

dont know any around you but with aircon the only time it need recharging (good system)is if it feel like it not getting as cold as you think it should.

Ian,

For your info all A/C systems leak naturally. From memory the acceptable level is around 5% a year meaning the system does reduce in performance over a few years. Normally the systems are filled to allow for this loss and keep the specification level for upto 5 years, however there are exceptions.

Cheers

Just had the climate control repaired. Pressure sensor was faulty. Thanks for all the assistance.

Halfords are advertising an air con top-up kit which includes a can of refrigerant and oil plus leak sealer, the connecting hose and a pressure gauge - all for £40. Has anyone tried it ?

I had air con fail back in summer 2004 - it was just a very tiny wire that came off during service - right near the oil sensor underneath the engine - quick fix and al was well - no gas recharge needed
