Clutch replacement

Hello all,

I have a silver 1.4TDi sport which I adore. Unfortunately I have recently experienced a few issues with the clutch slipping... I had this confirmed when my car was serviced yesterday.

I was wondering if any one has had their clutch replaced and if you could give me an idea of how much it would cost?

It also concerns me that the car has only done 50k miles and most other cars don't need doing until they are far beyond this. I didn't buy the car brand new so I don't really know its entire history...

Please can anybody help me?

Hi Kristy, cluth is a consumable part of the car. I've replaced mine at ~42k miles, it depends on your driving style and how much clutch you use. I drive in London, frequent gear change and stop start. When the clutch was out, there was nothing left!

Audi quoted 'standard' 5hr labour + parts, which is just under £1000. I got it changed at independent garage, who does a lot of VAG cars, for less than £500 all inclusive.

I did a lot of motorway miles up until 12 months ago and now I sit in stop start traffic for 2 hours per day...

I'll get a quote from a local dealer instead of audi.
