Coil pack and spark plugs - misfire

Bought new coil pack replaced on cylinder 1 as per fault code no difference still misfiring.
Using the new coil pack changed other 3 to see if any change - no change

Is the fault code likely to be caused simply by the plug breaking down or do I need to bite the bullet and take it in to the garage?

One last Q - do I need a specialist plug spanner to remove the plugs?

Hi can I ask what petrol engine it is? A long reach plug spanner/socket will do it. Worth pulling it out and looking. But other options depend on what engine you have. Cheers Mike

Ok as its the 1.4 --try changing the plug\s --is the wiring all sound and no obvious signs of cuts or damage?

Can anyone give me some ideas on how to remove the pencil type coil pack from my 2005 Audi A2 1.4 petrol?
I would like to change both them and the spark plugs but they are surrounded by plastic clips. Managed to release a couple but others seem reluctant to move. Don’t want to break anything is there any instructions out there?
Thanks.

Just get something under them and lever them out. I did all 4 mine without issue in this way.

I had misfire cylinder 2. The problem with my car was that there was a leak from one of the valves on cylinder two. We got some new seals and changed the seals on all 16 valves. Then we cleared the fault codes and no more misfire.

Simon was enthusiastic about this tool for working on his FSI. - Andy

Thanks I will try that!..... regarding all the surrounding plastic frame and clips how the heck do you release there hold on the cables and connectors?
Thanks.

If you look at the clips you’ll see that one end folds and clips release this. Once you have done one its easy but the first one can be tricky.. I did this last week

Hi
Thanks yes managed a couple like you just said but others are tight to the connector?...does the plastic surround have fixings to hold it down too?

Yes sorry this is what I am referring to.

Hi,
Yes I’ve managed to release a couple if you look near the connectors into the pencil coils they have plastic stays that hold the connectors in tight. I guess I just ease them back and pull the connectors straight back to release? I’m planning to do it later this week when I get a day off so I’ll let u know how it goes. Thanks for your help.

I found releasing the 2 bolts holding the plastic cover on also helped as this lifts with the plugs making it easier to get them kt

Okay thanks will remove the bolts holding down the tray surround down too! Do you reckon once clips are released to lift individually straight up with the connector still in place or did you unclip the Connector by hand or with a flat blade screwdriver first?

It’s very hard to remove the connector without removing the coil from the hole.
I left all the connectors in place, the last one number 1 I believe was the hardest as very short cable, but doable
