My SE wheels are looking tired, im looking to do the wheels myself and would like to keep the colour the same.

Does anyone know if I can buy the colour off the shelf? if not is there a colour that's similar?

TIA

I’d did mine with Aldi, or was it Lidl, spray paint turned out ok actually.

Hello there,

To the best of my knowledge the colour that Audi used was called Avus Silver. I couldn’t say it’s the same colour that they use to this day though.

Edit: Audi Avus Silver Paint Code: LY7J

Hopefully someone will be along in the morning to give you a colour code unless I find it in a minute. Colour matching technology has been around for some time though so maybe your local paint supplier could match it to your existing wheels?

I see Steve has just shown you a picture of the results of his refurb from an Aldi/Lidl rattle can. They look good and I’m sure it wasn’t the most expensive paint to achieve what you see above. If your doing all 4 wheels then perfect colour match shouldn’t be an issue unless you’re set on having the colour as factory as possible.

The price of powder coating isn’t as expensive as it once was so this could also be an option as you can request any colour and the finish should be as new and might last longer than wet paint.

Kind regards,

Tom

The avus silver colour code is Z17.

LZ17 is an identical colour to Z17.

There seems to be far more listings for touch up paint on ebay with LZ17 than Z17.

Good timing....I've got 2 x sets of alloys to do for the A2.

I bought this kit from evilbay which inc primer and then lacquer. Will probably overspray the Crome ring on the centre caps as they are all tarnished.

It'll not be a good as a powder coat job but it's a poor mans alternative and give the car a nice wee lift.
