And it shows me the CD player, mpg’s and everything else. I’m assuming this is DIS?

I don't care about anyhing else than oil temperature, because it tells you when the engine is warmed up. Rest is just unnecessary ballast ;)
 
I know it by name ColorMFA. Since their homepage has same name, i'd guess it's easier to find info by that name.

There is a list of things it shows.

For temp i'm happy with coolant temp that is by default on main screen. Can get it up to around 70C with -2C outside and city speeds in 3L atm.

And the rest is useful too, since it does diagnostics, it basically adds VCDS to your car.

This is useful to know. However, looking at the site it seems that you have to have a full display already. I only have the half display. Can this problem be overcome?

That info you will find from Timmus, but as much as i understand it, he does it by basically upgrading the car to a level that supports full display or similar....
So it's more involved, but should be doable...
 
Tom can upgrade from the half DIS on standard models, so yes, it is available for you. See below link.

I had Tom fit this for me and love it, aside from the huge functionality which makes the car feel modern you can see and clear error codes (fortunately not had any yet, touch wood).

Of all the options available, I’d say this is the best one for a numbers geek like myself.
 
Install in the dashboard with a small FIS Probably it is possible, similar to this:
