ColourDIS Users' Thread

Glad to see you found out the beep, mine has behaved perfectly since I fitted it.

Today I updated it with version 21 and lost all of my settings, anyone else updated their DIS and had to set it all up again?

When was v21 released? I had the latest firmware update when I had it installed, about a month ago. Where within the menus is the version number?

Jeremy, you're already running v21. At the time of writing, it's the latest version available.

Did Tom do this for you or is there another way?

Craig is an electronics whizz and did his own Colour DIS upgrade.

Of the Colour DIS installations that I've done, only Jeremy is running the latest software. All others were done prior to the release of v21. There are a few minor menu changes in v21, but no additional features. When I next visit Colour DIS users, I shall ensure that everyone is running the latest software. I'm also happy to show people how to do it themselves in future.

Cheers,

Tom

How do I reset the time
Or is that not a clock?

Top left hand corner.

Isn’t it via the standard process of pulling out the “knob” in the Rev counter?

I didn’t spot an option in the settings. But I will have another look. This is one for Timmus I guess.
Steve B

Which time display do you mean?
I don’t think there is a time displayed anywhere on the actual DIS screen. So do you mean the standard clock display in the Rev counter?
Steve B

Just seen your first post
That is the travel time I think. You can select that part of the display to show many different things. But there is no clock on the DIS.
Steve B

I think you might be right Steve, in the photo I've sent it's the 3 digit number, top left on the Dis.
I've updated the time and date in the cluster just before taking the photo.

Evening all,

This thread is just a massive tease.

This is the next upgrade to be fitted into Project OEM, just need other Tom to get stock of the required parts.

I think the CDIS looks stunning and the functionality it give is superb.

Kind regards,

Tom
Hi Tom

yes it really is so surprising that it can do so much. In addition to showing and clearing error codes, dipping the rear view mirror in reverse, digital speedo, oil level and temperature (on the move too) etc etc.

I love my gadgets but this is the gadget that keeps giving because there are so many options I never tire of it.
Even the fact that the display that shows any open doors and tailgate also includes the service flap and that is useful.

Steve B

I suspect its the journey time as you think, in which case its in the settings. Trip computer 1 and trip computer 2. I can't remember exactly which is which, but one is per journey, the other good until reset.

All good to hear Steve,

I’m totally in need of this upgrade. I’m pretty much paid up for it and ready to go. Just need Tom to have the parts back in stock and set the fitment date.

My A2 will have this stunning addition soon enough.

Kind regards,

Tom

I concur and love my CDIS. Of every upgrade that you could do this ones functionality makes the car feel 10 years newer. ?

how can it do this " dipping the rear view mirror in reverse " ??

Paul

It dips the nearside wing mirror when reverse is selected but only if the wing mirror selector on the drivers door is turned to that mirror.

That was the same question I asked when I heard of this function.
But it does and it works quite well.
occasionally it doesn’t quite return to normal when you take it out of reverse but that is not that often.

When you select reverse it gives a short downward movement triggered electronically. Then does the opposite when you come out of reverse. Clever and useful, especially since I have QT wheels with chrome rings that cannot be repaired or replaced!!!

Thanks for this info! I have just tried this and agree with you Steve, it might save me from scraping my lovely Ronals when parking! Excellent feature...
