concerned

We have bought a September 2003 registered A2 1.4 sport in crystal blue with blue interior and pick it up on Wednesday.

The only thing is, how can we tell for sure it is the sport model?

It has the sport alloys and the seats did feel more sculpted than a 1.6FSI model that we have sat in but apart from that there don't seem to be any more clues to suggest it is any different to other models.

It doesn't have fog lights either - are they standard on the sport model?

The reason for my concern is that it has an s-line badge and i've just done a search and found that it has been added by a previous owner so now i'm wondering if it is a standard model with the sport wheels and the s-line badge? The only badging on the back is A2 on the left hand side of the boot lid and 1.4 on the right hand side with the s-line badge underneath.

Are there any other big clues to tell us exactly which model it is or can you phone up Audi with the reg number to confirm? if so what telephone number would be the one to phone?

It's a sweet car all the same, and it was a good price with only 24000 miles on the clock but I'd just like to know what it is!

Cheers in advance.

You can phone Audi UK to have the exact delivery specs confirmed, yes.

Another way is to check the specs yourself. If it is a Sport, it should have ALL of the following:

17" wheels with sport suspension, Driver Information System, no fogs, no false floor in the boot.

It is possible that another owner has specced a Sport with fogs and a flase floor (I did), so the last two are not true indicators. The only true way to tell a sport is via the suspension - if it's firm, very firm, then it's a sport.

For your own peace of mind, I'd give Audi a call though.

All Sport Model have the following :-

17" 9 spoke alloys
Electric lumbar support on both driver and passenger searts
Sports seats
DIS
Slightly lower suspension.

Anything else I have missed anyone ??

17" wheels with sport suspension, Driver Information System, no fogs, no false floor in the boot.

all of those match up, not sure how i could check the suspension without comparing two cars side by side.

The Sports models also have the nice aluminium shaft gear knob. This was the only thing that I couldn't add to my SE specced car to bring it up to to Sport spec (minus the suspension and 17" wheels). It could probably be retrofitted if I had nothing better to do...
