OK so next thing on the list was to repair the concert cd error that annoyed the heck out of me when starting the car. And I don't drive much anyway!
Basically you take it apart and clean the lens with a cotton bud and isopropyl. In order to get there you have to pop-off the top and bottom caps. Then the front panel slides out. Remove several side screws and remove two pieces of sheet metal. One of the pieces has the shock-mounts, they just pull out.
The laser mechanism slides back and forth on a worm gear. You will find it resting on a micro limit switch. Carefully turn the driving gear to back up so that you can see the laser lens from underneath. Clean the lens with a semi-wet cotton bud. Rewind the mechanism until it touches the microswitch. You can test the switch with a multimeter to know when to stop or just eye-ball it or make a marker beforehand.
The cotton but might come out appearing as clean but it will not have been.
Reassemble in proper Haynes manual style and enjoy peace and quiet with a working radio!
