Concert radio bluetooth adaptor issue

Hi all,

I appreciate there is a lot of discussion on this subject but I cant find the answer...

I have bought a blue tooth adaptor from amazon that others seem to have had good results from.

My car was has the factory fitted Concert CD rasdio but was never fitted wit ha CD changer.

The adaptor I have bought has 5 wires in total, Ground, +12volt and 3 others which connect to CD right CD left and GRND on the back of the head unit, I don't see how this can emulate a changer...
When connected it the head unit displays NO CDC or NO CD. I have tried the press the CD button twice, and hold CD button while powering head unit up, same results..

I have connected VCDS and changed coding from 00001 to 0003 so +2 for multi changer, am I missing something... this unit was sold on Amazon as being suitable for the job.

Thanks

Were there no instructions?
I think you need to remove the blue section of the tri colour connector, and replace it with the blue connector from the BT adaptor. The connector you have removed is redundant.
The newly configured tri colour connector plugs into the radio. The connector that was plugged into the radio, now plugs into the red connector on the adaptor cable.
The fly lead, with an eye tab, is fitted under a screw on the radio chassis to provide an earth.

Hi Mac thanks,

the connection is not the issue, the blue connector on the end of the bluetooth unit is connected directly into the head unit, earth eye also connected.

The bluetooth unit is powered up, will connect to my phone but does not emulate the CDC so the head unit does not receive any input.
Still displays no CDC

looking at the pin out for the connector, CD right and CD left are the audio inputs so it must need another signal to let the head unit know the CDC (or emulator) is in place, I am assuming this would be on data out and data in pins, ie signal to cdc the signal back.

Having read the reviews on the unit I bought it looks like I am not the only one... its going back.

OK, understand. They've missed those wires from the loom, I think. Poor QC.
Mac.

Hi I thought it might be constructive to say I went down the cheap Amazon/EBay route, to no avail. I have successfully fitted a Bluemusic+. It was less than £40, and with a Bluetooth mic run up the A-pillar into the overhead console, has totally invisible music and phone bluetooth compatability with my 2001 Audi Concert stereo. Don't waste your time on anything else.

Hi thanks. Yes I have read good things about the blue music device. Think this will be next purchase.

I had the same issue with similar cheap Amazon units, on further investigation it actually has no wires to the connector pins required to emulate the cdc, so is effectively a scam, and physically has no way of working correctly.

Exactly this. 👍🏻

PS: I owe you a PM, Indi. I shall aim to find the time during my current Leighton Buzzard residency.

Yes definitely go for the one with hands free mic worth a few more pounds
Also their customer support is excellent

Definitely. Not necessarily just because of the mic but the cheaper version literally does not handle calls via Bluetooth at all.

If I may sidetrack just a bit, would the above mentionned BlueMusic adaptor be compatible with a steering wheel control? I intend to refrotit a period MSFW and install a concert2 radio just for that purpose...

I shouldn’t think it would matter as the Bluetooth adapter is a source nothing else. You can always reach out to BlueMusic they have excellent customer support

Hiya-you definitely fitted the black wire with the metal hoop to the body of the unit? There will be a screw somewhere on the back of the unit you can use.

I don’t know for sure as I don’t have a MFSW, however I think it it might be, as it integrates with the head unit (Chorus II) so the next/previous track buttons on the head unit work, so by logical extension I think the equivalent controls on the steering wheel should work too.

Hi Chris,
Did you fit a microphone and if so where did you locate it and how much difficulty was it to thread the lead?
I extended the mic with a lead off Amazon. I then removed the headliner, and fitted mine up the A-pillar into the overhead console's dedicated grille. It works perfectly

I’m thinking of doing the very same don’t suppose you have the link in your order history?
