Condensation in front headlight

I had a bulb go in one of my headlights and as it was booked in for a service a few days later I asked them to change it. This was just at my local garage I have always used. Within a few days the light was completely covered inside with condensation. I went back to the garage and they just said it was 'one of those things' and that a lot of cars did it and it was nothing to do with them replacing the bulb.

I've just had it MOT'd at the same place - at least 9 months later and they've told my boyfriend (he took it in today as I couldn't) that it failed because the light had condensation in it and when he explained they said they'd never touched my light before.

Firstly a bit annoyed with garage for not admitting fault and also for knowing the problem and letting me drive around with it like that for so long!
Would this have happened anyway or is it related to them changing the bulb? Light has otherwise remained un-touched.

It is quite possibly related to the bulb change, as the rear cover cap may have been re-installed badly - there is a seal in there that could have come adrfit, meaning that moisture can get in.

Unfortunatley, their denial of all knowledge is not uncommon - why not dry it out with a hairdryer and check the seal (removal of light is a doddle, just 2 x T30 screws), then print off the free MOT voucher from Audi, and take it there!?

Cheers

Mike

I strapped several bags of silica gel into my light clusters after they got condensation in them last autumn and they have stayed dry since...
