Connect My Phone To Stereo

I have inherited my mum's A2. It has an old Ipod connector in the glove box. I want to find a way to connect my phone to the in built stereo so I can control it using the radio in the car.

I have attached photos of my head unit and the IPod connector so you where I am

Would any of these work?

Before you get carried away, the Concert and Chorus radios can't control, or be controlled externally, they have no commands for this. They are 20 year old "tech" after all!. Get a blue tooth adapter, set the radio to CD (this is the input all BT adapters use, and will be where your IPhone lead goes I expect, unless it's an FM link), and then use the phone for everything, except FM.
There are lots of adapters, over a wide range of price and features. I'm happy with the AnyCarLink 1080-B (Amazon, about £75).
Mac.

I’ve used a connects2 Bluetooth adapter. I can play/pause and answer incoming calls using the concert 2 head unit. Reasonably happy with it. Not as good as a true built in system but quite serviceable. And welcome to the club! Enjoy the A2...

Thanks for the suggestion. How will I know if I have a concert 2?

So is this the right kind of thing to buy?

How do I go about connecting it to the stereo once I have got it?

All adapters plug into the CD changer socket on the HU, as it's the only input the Chorus/Concert units have. You will need the right adapter cable. Some BT adapters are plug and play. My AnyCarLink came with the adapter cables, HU removal keys and hands free mic etc. Read the specs, of what they do carefully before deciding which one to buy. Worth listing what you want to be able to do first. If you have a CD changer, do you want to use it as well as Bluetooth? Some adapters allow this, others don't.

What's the call quality like with the connect2 unit? I didn't see any reference to it coming with a microphone on the Amazon link in the first post, does it come with one or can I connect one?

Call quality is acceptable but def. not on par with an OEM system. Mine did come with a mic, which is position on the drivers side of the centre console. Hope that helps.

Not a problem at all. If you use the XCarLink SKU718 or the Connect2 CTAADBT003, you'll be able to connect your phone via Bluetooth, and control the phone using the buttons on the front of the stereo. Play, pause, skip track forwards/backwards, scroll within a track, etc. It all works wirelessly. :)

Cheers,

Tom

Sorry for revving this thread but any idea if the old phone connector/interface can be used with some modern controller?
My a2 had some sort of phone holder and it has an interface as seen in picture.
How was this used and is there any adapter that can use this interface?

Unfortunately, this connector is completely obsolete. It was used to connect old Nokia-style phones to the car before the advent of Bluetooth. It cannot be adapted to allow music playback.

Cheers,
