Coolant for FSI

Sorry for another dopey post....should know better....

Many good things about working for the health service but one isn’t the amount of 9-5 time available for essential shopping.

So I try Halfords as a source of coolant as my FSI needs a bit of a top up. I think I want G12 - they tell me comma G40 is OK....

Is it? I can’t confirm that it is comparable and don’t know enough about modern coolants to be confident!

Thanks for your wisdom

However, it's best to buy the genuine VAG product, cheap enough at any VW Audi Skoda or Seat dealer, and available either premixed or as concentrate. Under £10 for 1.5L - I think I paid £8 last time I needed some.

Picking coolant is like getting married - Compatible is OK but you can't do better than a perfect match.
G13 every time and if it's concentrate. mix it 50 / 50 with de-ionised or distilled water especially if you live in a hard water area. In the distant past I've used boiled tap water on the basis that most of the limescale is deposited on the kettle. I've also saved the ice while defrosting the freezer

Cheers Spike

Thanks all for the reassurance!

Yes VAG would have been have been my destination of choice but out of working hours not so easy!
